Right, keyboards:  this is the hardest of all, but by a nose (over Richard Christopher Wakeman) would be Tony Banks.

He would be my pick, too (by a hair over Kevin Moore).

Singer: Freddie, or Peter Gabriel (yup, seriously)

Peter Gabriel would be near the top of my list for favorite singers.  Just an awesomely unique voice. :tup :tup

Keyboard - Jordan Rudess: He's not called the Wizard for nothing. His technique is unmatched, his compositional and orchestration skills are amazing, and his mind for technology is revolutionizing music applications.

There is no doubting Rudess' talent and innovation, and he would be one of my favorite keyboard players (top 5 maybe), but he is similar to Mangini in that he is such a technical wizard with his instrument that he sometimes loses his way and focuses too much on technique, and often at the expense of melody and feel.

Singer: Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz)  Not saying he's the best, but his voice just clicks with me.
Guit: JP
Bass: Les freakin Claypool!  Only one mention? Come on y'all!
Drums: MP
Keys: JR

Singer is the hardest one for me - overall front man is David Lee Roth but if I think about the singers that I have become obsessed with (tracking down all their stuff) at some time and who are versatile enough to sing across my main genres of interest (AOR,hard rock, metal) then two names come to mind.  Jeff Scott Soto and Mark Free.

Guitar: EVH

Bass: Marcel JAcob (RIP)

Drums:  Alex Van Halen/ Mike Portnoy

Keys: Kevin Moore

Singer: Simone Simons, Bobby Darin, Sarah Brightman
Guitarist: John Petrucci & Steve Rothery (most underrated guitarist I've ever heard)
Keys: Jordan Rudess - no contest, even before he was in DT
Bass: TBA
Drums: Neil Peart

Singer: Ann Wilson   r/u: Jon Anderson, Steve Perry
Guitar: Eric Johnson (some of his solos move me like no other music can) r/u: Alex Lifeson (Caress of Steel through Permanent Waves), Petrucci
Bass: Chris Squire (RIP-if I could play any instrument like any one person, it would be bass like Squire) r/u: Geddy Lee
Drums: Barriemore Barlow  r/u: Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Carl Palmer (if you've seen him live-OMG!), Phil Collins (before he turned into a pu**y)
Keys: Tony Banks  r/u: Rick Wakeman, Jordan Rudess

Brann Dailor is not quite at the Neil Peart level, but he is close! Most talented drummer of any working band today!

Impossible to narrow it down to one or two but here's my try

Vocals: Bruce Dickinson
Guitar: Steve Lukather or Eddie Van Halen
Bass: Mark King
Drums: Jeff Porcaro

And ask me tomorrow and I will create a different list.

This is SO not meant to piss on your choices - their YOUR choices! - but I have to say... I don't get Jeff Scott Soto.  He strikes me as a sort of minor league version of Joe Lynn Turner, who (despite being a GREAT singer) is a sort of second tier guy himself.   What am I missing?

Also, props to the Les Claypool mention, and the numerous Ann Wilson mentions.   She's EASILY my favorite female vocalist, and probably in my top five if I expanded my list.

I dig the hell out of Jeff Scott Soto.  Don't forget, he was the voice for Malmsteen before JLT was.  My favorite JSS offering:

Blake Richardson

Who is this?

He's from Between the Buried and Me, probably not your thing Tim.  I'm not really into the drummer side of thing compared to guitar and vox, and while I thought Portnoy would probably be the option for me, this guy I think is amazing as I'm really into BTBAM at the moment.  Not sure how he's rated amongst drummers but I think he's great.  Just thought I'd throw his name out there.

This difficult as a lot of my favourite muscians like Steven Wilson, Casey Crescenzo, Syd Barrett aren't necessarily at the top-game of their instruments but rather are amazing composers.

Singer: Darroh Sudderth, Ian Kenny
Guitarist: John Petrucci, David Gilmour
Bass player: Jon Stockman
Drummer: Marco Minneman, Mike Portnoy, Brann Dailor

Keyboard - Jordan Rudess: He's not called the Wizard for nothing. His technique is unmatched, his compositional and orchestration skills are amazing, and his mind for technology is revolutionizing music applications.

Whenever I see stuff like this, I wonder whether you've ever heard stuff by Rick Wakeman.

----

Vocals: I'm inclined to go with Daniel Gildenlöw here. James LaBrie '92-'95 is a good second spot.

Guitars: So many guys to choose from... Gotta go with Guthrie Govan. He's the best out there today. John Petrucci takes the second place - the guitar playing I've drawn most influences from myself. David Gilmour would be a fine candidate as well.

Bass Guitar: Jaco Pastorius, I guess, though I must admit that I don't really care for bassists most of the time (sorry)

Drums: Mike Portnoy (runners up would be Tomas Haake, Marco Minneman and Gavin Harrison)

Bonus Keyboards: Rick Wakeman
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.
