Parama said he will take a week off so I think he may start listening soon (if he didn't already).

I know that this roulette is moving a lot more quickly than mine did. I was feeling the same today, like "Seems quiet from Parama" but that's only because I'm used to your roulettes running so damn efficiently  :lol

Take the time with the week off, hope it gives you the time to bump up my scores  :corn

Round 0-4 Relistens

Nekov: Infected Mushroom – Saeed

I think the better parts of this one do make it a bit stronger of a song than I gave it credit for, though there are still some parts I’m not too keen on & I definitely would’ve preferred this as like a 5 minute song with the noisy electronic stuff cut.

7/10 (+.25)

Train of Naught – Batushka - Yekteniya 1

I can’t figure out if my scoring curve has been getting a little more lenient over the rounds or if I just underrated this the first time, but. Yeah, this is a bit better than I gave it credit for. I think I enjoy it more when I’m not exclusively focusing on it though? So…. yeah.

7.25/10 (+.25)

Train of Naught – Khemmis – Beyond the Door

Okay, I think 7/10 might have been a touch low for this one too. I dunno. The fun parts of this do enough for me that I feel it at least deserves a bit more.

7.25/10 (+.25)

Bolsters – Foxes – In Her Arms

No clue what it is but I was way more into this on this listen than on any of my previous listens. I still think this would be improved if it ditched that bell though. Just does not add anything to the song. But yeah otherwise I enjoyed this a decent bit, yeah.

7.5/10 (+.5)

Tomislav95: Kaddisfly – Campfire

I have no clue how this got only 7.5? I dunno, it’s definitely better than that by at least a little bit & there’s not really any weak moments either. Maybe it just didn’t quire resonate with me when I was doing write-ups. But yeah that chorus and bridge especially definitely make this better than I gave it credit for.

8/10 (+.5)

Bolsters: CHVRCHES – The Mother We Share

Damn, coming back to this one and it’s even better than I remember it being. Yeah, not only was my rating before not just spur of the moment, it might actually have been too low. I’m tempted to give this one an entire half-point because it really deserves it. I wasn’t quite as confident in my grading scale in this round I guess. Just a fantastic pop song that, really, none of your other entries have lived up to.

9/10 (+.5)

Updated Standings:
twosuitsluke – 46.75
Luoto – 46.75
Nekov – 46
Bolsters – 45.5
home – 45
Tomislav95 – 45
Evermind – 44.5
Train of Naught – 44.5
LordCost – 43
Stadler – 41

yeah there wasn't really a ton i felt worth rescoring, oh well  :P

okay definitely gonna start on first impressions today but probably won't be finished until tomorrow. one of y'all sent a 15 minute song after all  :corn
and the song length in general is a bit higher this round, most of the other rounds have been about an hour long, this one's 70 mins. so yeah, might take a little more time than usual but not too much

Round 6 First Impressions

It’s a nice chill song but that’s really all there is to say about it. It wears its influences on its sleeve and doesn’t do anything adventurous but it sounds nice enough for what it is.

The technical chops are the what stands out the most here, there’s skill here but it’s melodic enough and not just mindless shred like a lot of bands devolve into.

I like the vocals, they provide a lot of atmosphere by themselves and contrast nicely with the more energetic music behind them.

Also, I do genuinely appreciate how high the bass is in the mix here. It’s not an especially great groove but I can dig it and it’s great to have it driving the song as strongly as it does.

The lo-fi sound of this is oddly working really well for me, everything sounds washed out but with what the instruments are playing it’s less that stuff is getting lost in the mix and more that it’s all blurring into this great wall of noise.

I dig that, has a solid groove and I honestly could always use more cool bass grooves in my life.

This does sound nice enough and the atmosphere works pretty well, and I do like the female vocals when they appear.

It’s the kind of song where it’s a bit hard for me to really comment much on first listen though – mildly enjoying it but I don’t get a whole lot out of it either.

I do like the style of riff this goes for but I also kind of feel it doesn’t go far enough? Like this could be heavier and still work but it feels… restrained.

And it comes to a pretty decent climax based on the sludgier riff with some noisy guitar strumming seeping up into the mix for a pretty dense atmosphere, I can dig that, yeah.

Feels like a pretty solid round overall though there's nothing standing out to me that much on first listen. Nothing I really dislike either though so ehh, we'll see.

Yeah this is mine.

I only know my song and Train's from the hangman, and I won't spoil the Train's one because he basically introduced me to that band.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.
