I had to send Cardiacs soon because they are rapidly becoming one of my favourite bands. On Land And In The Sea is probably already in my top 20-30 albums ever and I still don't know by heart most of the songs (A Little Man And A House and Sing To God are better albums to start)

I sent The Everso... because searching in DTF I saw that Zantera sent that song in the Lolzeez roulette and it got a good score. That song is 8 minutes but it isn't as tiring as many 3-4 minutes Cardiacs songs, trust me. It contains more instrumental parts than many other songs so if you don't like at all the singer don't go further. The only thing that comes to my mind thinking at vocals is that they sound a lot an English band, I don't know why. But I love it as a singer and mostly as a composer.

I'm thinking at what to send, in 24 hours I will do it.

That's an okay score  :tup I'm not pleasing the secondary judges so far tho  :lol

It does feel like the song ends maybe a bit anticlimactically though? The payoff for the buildup in the back half of the song doesn’t really go much of anywhere, or doesn’t go far enough. It leaves the ending feeling a bit unsatisfying.
Yeah I can see where you're coming from, it does end kinda suddenly.

I do find that this shorter style of straightforward post-metal is never as compelling as the more longform pieces though so it’s a bit weird I keep getting sent it but oh well, still solid stuff.
I should have sent another song from them perhaps  :P Ah well, I'll keep this in mind if I'm sending another post metalish song.

I'll try to send faster this time

Yeah, I've heard other people complain about the intro to that song, it's a hit or miss thing. I personally like it because of the WTF factor and because it servers well to prepare you for what's coming next but to each his own.

I played it safer this time, hope it pays off.

My band only has 4 songs, so it was pretty easy to pick one. :lol

Not pleasing the primary nor the secondary judge. Though I must admit, this Khemmis entry felt waaay too safe on my part, I wasn't sure what to send but now I have a decent list of songs/bands ready for the rest of the roulette.

Well, at least I scored some points from the secondary judge.

I forgot to plan what to send next. I'll either send in 3 hours or in 27 hours from now on.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

I can say for sure you guys are good at having exactly 5 people send me songs within 24 hours. It's happened three rounds in a row now :corn
Listened to all five that I have but still eagerly waiting on the other 5.

Already have one song over 10 minutes so this should be a fun round (read: will be more annoying to do writeups because longer songs  :corn )

Well, I'm choosing between 6-minutes, 7-minutes, 9-minutes and 12-minutes long songs, and the other three are unlikely to be sent by anyone, so I'm going with the longer one just to be safe.

4.5 incoming.

Round 3 First Impressions

I like the vocals on this a bit more, that chorus especially is pretty nice. This goes more of an atmospheric route though and less of a “controlled chaos” route.

The guitar work here is at least pretty solid, both the leads and the riffs are interesting enough.

Yeah, I can dig the jagged feel this song wants to seem to go with. Though they haven’t done anything as cool as that intro since, unfortunately.

Man, with the way this starts I bet I’m almost going to be let down by the rest when it really kicks in, because thus far this is excellent.

This does have a nice chill vibe to it though, even if it’s lacking the emotional potency I prefer having from this style of music.

It’s solid stuff overall though not hitting me especially hard. Right near the halfway mark though I am digging this more jagged groove going on.

Honestly if this was just the entire song I’d be okay with that? The vocals are nice and I enjoy the laid-back, nostalgic vibe of the guitar work.

It has its moments where it really plays its core sound straight but the oddities throughout the song don’t just feel shoehorned and they break up the heavier moments effectively.

It’s got a fun sound to it for sure though & the singer sounds more than enough into the groove of the song.

Right away this is definitely hitting some right notes, a nice heavy riff going on in the intro.

Pretty solid round overall, it feels like. A few songs here I see myself really digging.

Thats Humble Ledger (Gnostic States)

Ill admit, this was on my short list since that is their best song, but I was very unsure of what Parama would think of it. He's terrible if it gets lower than 7 though, thats for sure.

Btw it's probably home who sent it.

Let's go with N
