"Is" is correct, although in the case of bands like The Rolling Stones or The Beatles, using "are" makes more sense, since saying, "The Beatles is a great band," sounds wrong, even though it is correct, in theory.

'Is' is definitely the right answer though.

are - second person singular present and first, second, third person plural present of be.

is - third person singular present of be.

Since DT is one thing not multiple.  It just consists of multiple people.

Band names are collective nouns, so it would be "is". Really not that complicated.

"Is", for both questions (including the "album credits" thing). 

Also, while it got bastardized later, technically speaking, the name of the band comprised of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr is "Beatles".  No "The".   At least that's how John envisioned it.  The "The" was added by the dude that designed the logo that was used on the first U.K. single, "Love Me Do" (the most recognizable logo for the band).  It's been that way ever since.
