Best Series/Season of TV.
« on: April 19, 2017, 04:39:13 AM »
What do you consider the best series/seasons of TV ever?

Here are probably my Top 5 (without repeating the same show) :

The Wire - Season 4 (The Kids).
Break Bad - Season 4 (Walter vs Gus)
Blackadder Goes Forth.
The Shield - Season 5 (The Forrest Whitaker one and the Lemon Grenade)
Doctor Who - Series 5 or 31 (The first with Matt Smith).

Other good un's : Buffy (3), Futurama (2), The Americans (2), Justified (2), The Simpsons (6), Battlestar Galactica (2), DS9 (5), Spaced (1), Dexter (2).

Dexter seasons 1, 2 and 4
Breaking Bad as a whole, especially from season 2 onwards
Westworld's so far only season is brilliant
Mr Robot season 1 (haven't seen the second)
Fargo season 1 (same as above)
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Cool idea! I've forced myself to only pick one season from these.

Battlestar Galactica - season 3 (everything, really, but 3 is probably my favourite)
Doctor Who - season 5 (or 31 including the classic series)
The Expanse - season 1 (only so far in the UK)
Sherlock - season 2
Jessica Jones - season 1 (only so far)
Daredevil - season 1
Mr Robot - season 1
Broadchurch - season 1
Game of Thrones - season 4
Firefly - season 1 (only)

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.
I be am boner inducing.

Game of Thrones - Season 4
House of Cards - Season 2
Sherlock - Season 2
True Detective - Season 1 (probably the most perfect season of TV I've ever seen)
Hannibal - Season 2
Breaking Bad - Season 5

There's a lot more shows I love, but these are the single seasons that stand out.

Game of Thrones - season 4

Best Season so far I agree, the only reason I left it out is because I still think the best is yet to come!

Battlestar Galactica - whole damn thing.
Black Sails - seasons 3 and 4.
Blackadder - season 2.
Westworld - season I
Game of Thrones Seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Arrow - seasons 1, 2 and 5.
Gotham - season 3.
Farscape - The whole 4 seasons (it's a nostalgic thing)
Legends of Tomorrow - season 2.
True Detective - season 1.
The Exorcist - season 1 (yep, too bad if they don't do a follow up)
Dark Matter - season 2.
Legion - season 1. (honourable mention for astounding imagery and sound).

Going with just one per show:

The Sopranos - Season 2 (1 and 5 almost as awesome)
Breaking Bad - Seasons 4 (the rest incredible as well)
Dexter - Season 2 (1 a hair behind)
Six Feet Under - Season 1 (or 2 or 3...cannot decide)
Seinfeld - Season 5

Prison Break - Season 1. Might be the best first season of any show ever.

I'm with you on that, felt the underwhelming ending let it down.  Ironically the ending of season 2 saved it.

BTW, the funniest single season of a show, for me, was Silicon Valley season 1, which also featured the funniest single episode of TV I've ever seen (the season finale, "Optimal Tip-to-Tip Efficiency").

Justified - Season 2  - Margo Martindale was fantastic and won an Emmy

The Americans - Season 2 -  Again Margo Martindale won an Emmy a couple of seasons for a guest actress in a series

Six Feet Under - Season 1

Such a fantastic half hour of TV. Also, Erlich slapping the shit out of the kid a couple episodes prior is one of the funniest individual scenes I've seen in a while.

Good call on Justified season 2.

Seinfeld - Season 5

See, I would've gone with 4 - Kramer in LA, Wallet, Watch, Bubble Boy, Opera, Virgin, Contest, Nose-pick, Implants, Junior Mint, The Pilot - with Season 5 being a close second.

Can't decide between Six Feet Under Season 1 or 2. Leaning towards 1 because the first few episodes are just so well written and set the tone for the series

I'm with ya. I rewatched it a few months back and still thought it was really good, but amazing or all-time great?  Nah.

Seinfeld - Season 5

See, I would've gone with 4 - Kramer in LA, Wallet, Watch, Bubble Boy, Opera, Virgin, Contest, Nose-pick, Implants, Junior Mint, The Pilot - with Season 5 being a close second.

It's a close call between 4 and 5, but 4 does have a few meh episodes (The Ticket, The Pilot), while 5 is stellar from episode to episode.  I think many of the show's best episodes are from those two seasons.

Six Feet Under - Season 1 (glad to see the love here for this show)
Dexter - Season 4
The Sopranos - Season 2
Breaking Bad - Season 1 (every season was great though, just thought the final season was a tad weaker than the rest)
Bates Motel - Season 4

Jumping in on this mini pyramid to say yes. Hell yes.

Also Hannibal. The series, I think it's all amazing.

A more recent one that will no doubt go down as one of my favorites is Legion. I have not been so absolutely mesmerized, confused and taken aback as I have been with this show in a good long while. Really amazing stuff, ten fold given that it's comic-verse related.

I'm so bad at tracking which season is which.

Game Of Thrones
Fargo
Breaking Bad
Better Call Saul
True Detective S01
The Wire
LOST
Silicone Valley
Vikings

Yeah, it was extremely impressive.  IMO, better than any of the x-related films (granted, I haven't yet seen Logan).
