- The Astonishing on Quadruple Vinyl -
« on: April 15, 2017, 05:14:17 PM »
Hi gang.

I'm still thinking of getting the Quadruple Vinyl as it looks like a nice piece and I can afford it...

Is it worth getting it ? Is it something like 33 minutes a side ? Does it play ok ? Sound Ok etc ?

Thanks Guys ! :)

Is it something like 33 minutes a side ?

Don't know the answer to the other questions but I know that this is a no. Each Act has its own 2 vinyls, so it's around 20 minutes a side for Act I & 12.5 minutes a side for Act II. (They probably could've made it a triple vinyl if they really wanted to)

I guess 33 mins a side would be 4 sides not 8.

I'm into getting it since it's £40 on Amazon.

Tbh, I would've thought triple vinyl would be enough for TA. Act 1 (80 mins) on two records, Act 2 (50 mins) on the third.

It's split 5,4,4,4,3 - 4,5,5 (tracks on each side).

Yeah, I have it. Came with the Boxset. I like it, but I'm a fan of the overall package, despite how cheesy the characters are and the drawings. The 12x12 drawings of the characters, the bigger map and overall design are pretty cool. It's a pretty sharp looking package. Sound wise, I can't tell too much of a difference between the vinyl and CD/MP3s

I have it too. It sounds fine to me and the package is very good looking in my vinyl shelf. If you can get it for 40-45 bucks you should do so. I however preordered it at roadrunner - last time I preordered something at this ****** company. I paid 99 dollars PLUS 15 shipping. Then they said it would be delayed until late march (2 months!!) which made my wish to have it signed at the M&G in march impossible. Also I had to buy the CD although I never wanted it so I could listen to it from day 1.  So I wrote a message to RR with my concern - and NOTHING happened. No answer, no "we're sorry about that", nothing. I would understand if this happened to Beardfish where the band members pack the stuff and run to the mail office themselves, but not with a huge Label and an album which they tease and promote for what half a year or so.
Coolest thing was - it arrived in mid APRIL and I had to pay 19 bucks tax.

NEVER again will I order ANYTHING again with roadrunner.
Sorry for the off topic...
In the end I am happy to have it, the whole thing is made up really nice. But I should have gotten it at a local record store.

Pretty much this. DT was selling signed vinyls on the 2nd North American leg. The package does look sweet and way better than the digipack CDs.

Yeah I pre ordered the CDs too but :soon: made such a faff of it that I cancelled it ..

Happily though because I in fact pre-ordered it - I was still allowed to download the FLACs for free

I like the fold-out sleeve with all the artwork.  Looks good.  I don't collect vinyl and have no means to play it, so I won't get that.  But it is cool looking.  I do have the box with the NOMAC, but that does not have vinyl.

It was £40. And of course the day I buy it - :soon: knock £10 off :emo:

Oh well. I paid £40 and it was originally £70 so can't complain really.

That's the problem with these special edition sets.  They are priced really high, but if you hold out until after the tour is over and the excitement has worn off, you can score them at deeply discounted prices.  Remember the Luna Park sets?  Still, like you said, you got a good deal even though it could have been better if you waited just a bit longer.
