I'd be reading more. I have every intention every night to read, but then I grab my phone, read Twitter and magically it's 3AM and I need to go to bed.

I actually hate doing it but can't rip myself away even though I always have a book by my nightstand. I'm working on it

Yeah, the internet basically replaced book reading for me when it became prevalent. I imagine I'd read a lot more without it.

I get that we've all evolved and become HIGHLY reliant on all forms of new technology, but we'd have all adapted in another way without the internet.  I think you're in pharmacy or something?  Pharmacists did just fine for a century or so without the internet.

I am a programmer, and I can say, while sure, you could write code pre-internet, your references were clunky books with code examples you had to manually type over from the book. I am not kidding, but on the rare day that our internet is down, most of my coworkers throw in the towel for the day and go home.

I hear ya.  I'm in (was in) sales, and whenever email went down, it's like we were all turtles on our back not knowing how the hell to communicate/share information.  Sellers sold long before the internet; programmers programmed long before the internet... we've just evolved that profession to become highly reliant on it.

I seriously resisted having a smart phone for years. I knew I'd become addicted to it so I just never got one. About two and a half years ago my ex girlfriend (psycho hose-beast) took a contract out for me and got me one (despite me saying for months that I didn't want one). I think she was embarrassed by the fact I had an ancient phone that could literally just text and call. I was happy in my ignorance though, I checked Facebook like once or twice a week and still used to go on forums, just on my laptop so not as much. Admittedly I wouldn't have got so stuck into DTF without my smart phone but I often think I should be spending my time more productively.

I know I should have some control over myself but it's just so easy and I know what I am like. The easiest way to avoid something that I deem not good for me? Just remove the temptation, easy! I am seriously considering going back to a crappy old phone. I'd get through a lot more books, just like the rest of you, and spend more time being creative/drawing.   

I know I'm going on about my smart phone here and not necessarily about the internet as a whole but you get what I mean. I'd be doing more of the things I did before getting my smart phone as I didn't use the internet that much before that. I guess me and my buddies would play computer games at each others houses more and I would have discovered WAY less music, so it's swings and roundabouts really.

My life, hobbies, and career have all been shaped by the existence of the internet, so if it never existed, I have no idea what the hell I'd be doing now.

I guess the only way I could make a guess is going back in time to before I started using the internet and extrapolate from there. Based on what I wanted to be when I grew up when I was in like 6th grade, I'd probably be either doing something in meteorology or engineering for amusement parks.
