What are your favorite podcasts?
« on: March 16, 2017, 04:35:33 AM »
They aren't necessarily TV or movies, but I figured this was the best spot for this.

Over the past few years, I have really, really gotten into podcasts. Fantastic for in the car, work, around the house. Its nice to be able to listen and be entertained and still get things done. I really love podcasts.

Some of my favorites are:

1. Giant Bombcast - Video game oriented
2. Joe Rogan podcast- pretty much anything. Movies, martial arts, comedy, science, politics. Pretty much anything
3 The church of what's happening now- ran by comedian Joey Diaz. He is utterly hilarious
4 Hardcore history- Dan Carlin, all about history but he makes it such a fascinating listen

Any podcasts that you guys really enjoy?

The Weekly Planet. Australian podcast with Mr. Sunday Movies and Nick Mason (not the Pink Floyd drummer... :lol )
They talk comic book movies and tv-shows. Really funny if you're into that kind of thing.

Love the Bombcast and the Beastcast. JR can be really good depending on the guest. I'll pass MMA or hunting guests because I'm not really interested in the topic.

My favorites are:

1. Monday Morning Podcast with Bill Burr - The first podcast I got into. Comic that just talks about whatever comes to mind.
2.Giant Bombcast - Video game podcast
3. Giant Beastcast - Video game podcast (east coast giant bombcast crew)
4. The Virzi Effect - Comic talking about daily events
5. Sound Opinions - Also show by two music reviewers. I've found some great music through them, they have amazing guests, and their occasional album dissections are great.
6. Radiolab - NPR show. Well produced and really interesting stories
7. Stuff You Should Now - Title says it all, goes over history of people, places, and things.
8. This American Life - NPR show, stories on people that relate to the topic of the week.
9. My Favorite Murder - True crime podcast
10. Lore - Folklore bi-weekly podcast. Really great stories, can be really eerie at times

Lol, I check out when JR talks about MMA and Hunting too, which is ironic since I love doing martial arts, but my attention goes right out the window as soon as I hear it.

Just started listening to S-Town from the same people who did Serial and This American Life. It's really interesting so far and I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. Some colorful characters so far

I usually like Still Untitled : The Adam Savage Project..

But the last few times they've been really annoying - they've been using Skype between the hosts and just putting their video windows on the screen instead..

I won't watch it whilst they're like this.

I enjoy Cox n Crendor in the morning.  It's basically a podcast that involves two Youtubers that became internet famous due to their World of Warcraft content talking about various things from sports to movies to what weird encounters is happening in life to what weird stuff is happening in Florida.  Most of the time, their conversations steer away from the main topic and gets pretty weird at certain points, but I like it and have a good laugh at times.

I used to listen to Still Untitled but the episodes are so short, I feel like when they start getting into a good topic it's the end of the show.

I listen to too many to keep up with...
 - WTF w/Mark Maron - entertainment interviews - musicians/actors/comedians, etc.  Had Obama on 2 years ago
 - The Nerdist - pop culture interviews
 - Fat Man On Batman w/ Kevin Smith - used to be all Batman related.  Now, it's DC/Marvel/Disney informational
 - Talk is Jericho - music/ wrestling interviews w/Chris Jericho
 - Classic Metal Show - 6-hour Saturday night internet radio show cut up into segments
 - Let There Be Talk w/ Dean Delray - comedian/ former musician who hosts an interview podcast with musicians/actors/comedians
 - Sword and the Scale - true crime podcast (can be pretty disturbing at times)
 - Decibel Geek Podcast - music interviews focusing on 80's/90's hard rock
 - Eddie Trunk podcast - music interviews

Someone on Reddit recommended Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. I finally got around to listening to an episode yesterday. Fantastic podcast. I'm about an hour into a 6 hour blitz podcast about how whether or not humans are capable of handling our own power. It's really, really good.

Dan carlin is great. History always fascinated me, but he takes it to a whole new level. He presents it in such a compelling way

That blitz episode is awesome.
