So, I recently gave the band Coldplay a chance after years of ignoring them. And while I don't quite enjoy everything about their music, I found that I really really enjoy their production value. The best word I can describe it with is "lush".

On songs like Speed of Sound, Clocks, and several on their Viva La Vida album, I am really enjoying listening to the overall effect of the music. Can you help me discover more bands and albums that sound like this please?

In particular, love the rich sounds and tones of their piano, the strings (or keyboard synth sounds) blended with piano, and even some of their clean guitar tones (like on "Shiver") are simply gorgeous to my ears. No matter what one thinks of their music, their production value is very very high quality, and grand! So yes, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I think Death Cab for Cutie would be a good band to try.  Really good modern catchy rock, with lot of piano and guitar, and the production values are really good.

Check out their albums Plans, Transatlanticism and Codes and Keys.

Or go to YT and try the songs You Are a Tourist, What Sarah Said, Brothers on a Hotel Bed, The New Year, Transatlanticism, Soul Meets Body and Everything's a Ceiling.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

I tried Mansun - really liked what I heard as far as songwriting goes, though I didn't exactly get the lush Coldplay sound from it.

Also tried all the recommend songs by Death Cab For Cutie, this was much closer to the sound I'm looking for. Thanks both!
