I honestly like his vocals on Morningrise. Heritage is still the weak link for me.

Growling-wise the first two albums are the best. He never reached that level again.

Watershed.

I actually wince when his growls sometimes come on because I feel like he's struggling a lot. His growls sound so forced and....Painful. Ouch.

Really? You'd prefer that over his deeper growls in the later albums? How come?

Even though I enjoy the later albums more, his growls are as brutal as can get in the first two albums. It has been losing power since then, but it was still amazing until Ghost Reveries. After that it is pretty weak (I mean also live, I know that after Watershed there are no growls anymore).
