Van Halen act like the Sammy Hagar era never happened. Roth would never sing a VH song he wasn't involved with. Ego is too big for him to admit that they had hits without him in the band.

The number of big egos in the rock genre is too high a number to count, but Roth is near the top of the list of guys whose ego greatly surpasses his talent.

Mayday mayday! :lol

You will appreciate the fact that I never noticed that in Loss of Control, but now I hear it and chuckle every time (I've listen to W&CF a few times this week  :hat).  :lol :lol

I went to make a Roth era compilation CD for the car and I realized I didn't have Diver Down on CD. That has been fixed as it arrived today.
Even though I think I knew it was relatively weak compared to the others, I played the hell out of that tape when it came out. Very much enjoyed it.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I only use my iPod on long vacation trips. I usually don't like to drive around with headphones on.

I would suggest to get an aftermarket cd player that has a USB port and you can play your I pod.  It's worth it.  Playlists take minutes and no extra cds.

I bought a USB blu tooth adapter for the AUX port on my car since it doesn't have built in blu tooth.  No headphones, no cables, just turn on the adapter when I get in my car and it links usually right away to my phone and there are play/forward/backward buttons on the adapter.  Typically just hitting the play button will play my music from my phone from wherever I left off.  I bring the adapter with me when I travel for my rental cars too so I can always just use my phone's music while driving.  An easier solution than buying a new head unit or ripping CDs.  The adapter was like 10 bucks too on amazon.

Go to best buy and get a new cd player installed that has a built in USB port.  Seriously. You will love it.

Don't worry Tim, I'm still with you with CD's

And Diver Down is clearly the worst of the 7 DLR albums, but it's still very good and has some pure gems on it. I don't think I've ever heard someone say it was their favorite DLR album, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is

CDRs for the car is way better.  I never know what I am going to want to listen to from one day to the next, and what if I suddenly want to listen to x-band, but oh shit, I didn't put them on my phone or iPod that day?  I never have that problem.

I have an answer for that, too:

I don't feel like wrecking my car. :lol :lol

Playing around on your iPod or phone when driving is dangerous, but I never have that problem with CDs.  I like to bounce around at times from song to song, and since my car CD player has buttons on the steering wheel, I can do just that by just moving one finger a few inches while never taking my eyes off the road.

Top that.  :lol

what if I suddenly want to listen to x-band, but oh shit, I didn't put them on my phone or iPod that day?  I never have that problem.

I don't have that problem either.  I have a 64GB microSD card in my phone dedicated to music.  Sure if a new song isn't available yet I won't have it, but I keep most of my library on there and update it regularly with new music.

I remember using those cassette tapes to connect a CD player to the tape deck in a car.  And then when MP3 CDs started I bought a head unit that could play those so I could fit an entire or most of a bands discography onto one CD.  Then I went to using an MP3 player plugged into the AUX port, and eventually that just merged with my phone.  Finally just last year I went the blu tooth route described before.  My next evolution is to buy a car that has blu tooth built in and maybe eventually increase my sdcard on my phone to 128GB.  Also new dashes in cars have apple/android play that sort of allows you to use your phone through the dash with a touch screen.

And what if you decide you want to listen to something that you didn't put on your playlist that day?

Btw my wife's car has the touch screen which is awesome. I don't have that but I will never go without Bluetooth or a tough screen ever agsin.

Huh? I don't do it when driving.  I have probably 100+ CDRs in my car that I made, all ready at a moment's notice to be played.  For example, the impetus for this thread was my recent VH listening binge, when started when a friend randomly texted me something about one of their songs one day at work, we texted a little about them, and by the time I got in my car to go home, I wanted to listen to them, and presto, I put the CD in and away I went, instead of thinking, "Shoot, they aren't on my iPod today."

I just scroll to the album before I put it in drive and more ready to go.

I love it because I don't have to carry anything but the I pod and I have all my music with me.  I can make a Playlist on the fly with it as well. No need to hook it up to the computer.

Seriously guys. Do some homework.   It's really worth it.
