I've never seen it before, but just noticed it's on Netflix. I'm about to dive in...
Listen! Do you smell something?

I loved it. You have to REALLY like Metallica, though, to put up with the massive amount of ego on screen.

I like them enough to throw 200 bucks at a GA ticket.

I'm actually a huge fan. They're my favorite band and the reason I started playing guitar.

I liked it a lot when it first came out and I was just getting back into Metallica in a big way. Tried to rewatch it and couldn't get past the first twenty minutes or so. I suppose you really do have to be into them at the time, as I don't really listen to them all that much anymore save for a few classics once in a blue moon. But for the time it was great and despite me still really not liking a lot of St. Anger, I do quite like a few songs and the story behind it is tumultuous to say the least. I'm still kind of surprised it wasn't their last given how much shit it kicked up (and how shit the album was critically).

RIP DTP.

I love this movie. Growing up, I worshiped them, but literally knew nothing about them behind the scene. Then out of nowhere that movie dropped and now here they are bitching and whining to each other. It was incredible.

And kirk is classic going off about there being no solos. He was right.

I saw it when it first came out. But isn't the Netflix version now updated with recent footage or something? I could have sworn that was the case when I was browsing through last weekend. Was I seeing things?

You have to select the movie OR the new footage I think.

This was such a cool and scary thing for fans at the time it came out.

It was cool because it was such an intimate look at the band, it was scary because of what that actually looked like.

It's like 20% that and 80% repeating key elements of SKOM

I'm not a big fan of Metallica by any means, but I loved Some Kind of Monster. I still watch it occasionally. The guys in Metallica are interesting characters and it's fascinating watching them operate during this time. I find "making of" docs interesting, but I almost prefer the ones that are made for bad albums. I like to see what went wrong. SKOM is good in particular because not only do you get what went wrong, but I kind of understand the album better after watching it. You can see what they were going for and why it didn't work.

The best part was Rob's audition when he suggests playing Battery and Lars has that "oh shit" look on his face.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I just watched that part again and he totally does react like that,  :lol. He even rubs his head like "oh no" . Totally forgot about that.

I found it pretty painful to watch, but was fascinated anyhow. It also gave me a lot more appreciation for the bandmembers and what it must mean to be in a band for such a long time.

That was good, but not the best.

The best parts are any scene with Torben Ulrich.

Yea, that pretty much takes the cake.

Though him doing stretches in the background of Lars being interviewed is also great.

I couldn't decide if the guy was a total nutcase or the most sane person in the movie....  :\
