MindMaze (Resolve out 4/28)
« on: February 21, 2017, 05:50:47 PM »
Well, since I know there are at least a few fans here I figure I'll give these guys a thread. In case anyone missed the news today, the new album press release is live.

Quote
MINDMAZE: "RESOLVE" DETAILS REVEALED
The US progressive power metal band MINDMAZE will release their new album "Resolve" on April 28th in Europe and North America through Inner Wound Recordings.
Over the span of 68 minutes of melodic and powerful music ripe with recurring themes, the band takes the listener on a whirlwind journey through the scope of human emotion in hopes they will be able to project their own experiences into these intensely personal lyrics inspired by an amalgam of real-life events.
Resolve reprises the band's ever-present influences from bands like Queensryche, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Savatage, and a mixture of contemporary power metal and melodic rock hooks and songwriting while moving the band further into progressive and theatrical territory with more atypical song structures used to best serve the concept of the album.
The band continues to forge their footprint as one of the most promising and unique female-fronted bands to come along in recent times.
"Resolve" track listing
01. Reverie (Instrumental)
02. Fight the Future
03. In This Void (Instrumental)

Alright, since the current fans aren't active, let's see if we can grab some new ones.

For those unfamiliar, here is a track from the band's last ep: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuRYbQyJLpQ

Looking forward to it. Really good band. I joined the kickstarted for the albums, including this one.

I was a bit worried when Jeff got a 7 string as I don't like the sound generally, but I'm expecting a cracker.

Can't.  Fucking.  Wait.  Oh, and they're coming to Canada.  Don't care much for the acts that they are supposedly supporting - Arkona???  Seriously, a Russian death metal band that doesn't sing English?  Oh well.  At least it shouldn't be too hard to get on the rail.

Hah. Let me tell you, way back Jeff used to rip on Strats quite a bit, and so I find it extra satisfying that he uses one as a main guitar now. For the 7 strings, I will say he generally never had a problem with 7 string guitars, just the way in which a lot of people used them.

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Very cool bit for those able to attend, MindMaze will have a live keyboard player (Jonah Weingarten from Pyramaze) on the following dates:

Supporting Arkona & Sirenia
5-13-17 @ Webster Hall - New York, NY
5-14-17 @ Firehouse 13 - Providence, RI
5-15-17 @ L'Anti - Quebec City, QB
5-16-17 @ L'Astral - Montreal, QB
5-17-17 @ Mod Club - Toronto, ON
5-18-17 @ Subterranean - Chicago, IL
5-19-17 @ Cabooze - Minneapolis, MN
5-20-17 @ Riot Room - Kansas City, KN
5-21-17 @ Marquis Theater - Denver, CO
5-23-17 @ Studio Seven - Seattle, WA
5-24-17 @ Bossanova Ballroom - Portland, OR
5-25-17 @ Metro Opera House - Oakland, CA
5-26-17 @ Echoplex - Los Angeles, CA
5-27-17 @ Pranksters - Scottsdale, AZ
5-28-17 @ Rockhouse - El Paso, TX
5-29-17 @ Curtain Club - Dallas, TX
5-30-17 @ Grizzly Hall - Austin, TX

I've seen them many times, but never with a keyboard player. Honestly kinda jealous of those who will see that.

It's refreshing that Sarah doesn't either sing like a bloke or like she's auditioning for the opera.

Holy shit balls.  Backers just got a digital download, and Oh. My. Fucking. God.  Not enough superlatives.  Doc put it best in his review, that if this doesn't make Top5 AOTY, then this will be the greatest year of music ever.  Personally, I think this will finish Top 3.  Instantly, it's already the best album I've listened to this year.  Everyone in the band nails this.  Can't wait to get the liner and follow the lyrics/story.

I need a smoke.

It's so early to judge and to say this will definitely be top 3 or 5, but without question both this, Ayreon, and Pain of Salvation will be top 10.

Login to Kickstarter - there's a link for a digital download. I didn't get an email notification for some reason, but it's there.

Yeah, wasn't showing up last time I checked but it's there now. Played it a couple of times now and it's excellent.
Prog/power done right.

So, I put on my existing Mindmaze shirt this morning - no particular reason, it's just what I happened to grab from the closet.  What shows up in the mail today... Resolve + T-shirt.

Boom.  Now I have lyrics to follow along with.

No cd and t shirt here yet ☹️
Both listens so far have been in the car so no time to spend with the concept yet. Will wait for the booklet and a headphone session for that.

I'm a horrible fan for totally missing this thread, the album is just ridiculously good. So much relentless riffage, can't wait for them to come to Oakland, the venue there is one of my favorites.

MindMaze put out a real good cover of Queensryche's "Roads to Madness" last week.

I review it here, and interview Jeff and Sarah about it:

Checked out One More Moment. Liked it a lot. Not sure I can commit to this band though. I already have a hard enough time keeping Pyramaze and Teramaze straight in my head. I can't handle another -maze band.

Any band with “Mind” or “Maze” in their title is guaranteed to be great. These guys are thus doubly great!

I am sure I got recommended both Pyramaze and Teramaze by you. Pyramaze I enjoy. Teramaze I haven't listened to much. This band is now on my To-Do list. In fact, let me Google them.

Ready for a bit more of a mind fuck?

Jonah Weingarten, keyboard player who is in Pyramaze and was briefly in Teramaze also did a tour with MindMaze.
