You have a new toy.  That's why you're working!

But my current work doesn't let me play with the new toy! That will have to wait until my next project.

You'd think that would be motivation, but that's not how my feeble brain works.

Morning
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

'afternoon.

Farmers Market this morning... got some double-smoked maple bacon, garlic sausages, and fresh veggies.  Gonna BBQ some pizza tonight.  I've declared today as a do-the-square-root-of-fuck-all day.  It's 80ish degrees out, not a cloud in the sky, and beers are calling me.  Gonna skip the workout today, and do a double tomorrow (since it's supposed to rain most of the day).

Might take a nap on the swing later, and it's definitely gonna be a firepit tonight.

Life is good.

Chad.. you just made me hungry.

It's turned into a busy day today at work. Dealt with an attempted break in this morning, as well as other things.

Only an hour and a half till I am out of here..

If I hadn't had to go pick up jingle.daughter from work, I probably would've loaded in some Caramel Baileys into that frapp.

Just about to fire up the BBQ for the pizza... and more beer.  Oh, and did I mention the s'mores for the fire pit?  Mrs.Jingle bought some white-chocolate Aero bars for them.  I know, I know... pics or it didn't happen.  I'll get on that later for ya'll.

Be jelly.

Good afternoon all. Relaxing on the couch for now watching Wedding Crashers while a batch of beer boils away. Potentially have a few friends stopping by for beers later.

How long does it take from start to finish for the brew process.

If I'm on top of everything and clean as I go, I'd say about 5 hours or so, start to finish. Maybe a little longer in the summer when the tap water I use to cool it down from boiling is warmer. Fair amount of down time in there though.

How long until you can drink it Axe?

All depends on the beer. On the quick side I could probably keg a beer after a week and have it carbonated for serving at ten days. A normal strength beer I would probably keg at somewhere between two and three weeks depending on the particular beer/style and how busy I am. At the opposite end of the spectrum some of the high ABV beers I brew don't round into shape for months and months (the beer I took a gold medal for at nationals last week was 2 years old), and some of the sour beers I brew will go for over a year before they're even bottled.

And that is indeed quite a view Hyper.

How does aging beer compare in result to aging whisky, in terms of the flavor and profile?

And I love this view. Just took a panoramic of the sunset view, with the long cast shadows of the buildings. I love it here.

Nice, Chad! What a relaxing and beautiful backyard.

I've been meaning to share this for awhile, and since I'm going golfing this morning, I thought it appropriate.

What a crazy shirt, eh? Mrs. P thought it was cool and bought it for me.

The higher the alcohol you aim for in a beer the longer you age it.

He about the flavor? With whisky the flavors become more developed and robust. Does beer get more bitter/sour or are other complexities released as it continues to age?

With high alcohol it mellows over time. With IPA's they become less fresh.  Sour ales are made just way, sour.   It's a lot more complex but that's the simplest way of explaining it.

Chad, I love your backyard.
Jingle you have a hell of a nice yard.

Thanks guys.  It is a killer backyard.  I've got a pretty big property for the suburbs (80x105), and it's a corner lot.  1/2 of the perimeter is covered with the cedars that you can see, and the remaining side to our neighbour is blocked off by two huge (2+ stories) Weeping Cyprus' - which you can kinda see behind jingle.daugher.  In short, we have complete privacy (except from the loud-ass Boxer next door that A) is not fixed and B) was never socialized, so ALL it does is bark at any/everything  >:()

Maybe I'll post another pick sometime of the rest of the deck and grilling station, and the 'mini-deck' + swing.  We also have a trampoline - but it hasn't been used in years as my kids get older.

That's really nice. We just bought a house and we too have a corner lot but it's a new development so everything is so bare. We have new trees and we are going to be building a deck next summer.
