Well, given that Marco Sfogli is also in JLB's solo band, maybe there will be a tour with both bands on the same bill.

I honestly doubt Marco would want to pull double duty like that, it's a good amount of work. Maybe though, I'd definitely go.

How do we know of we're talking with the real Alex Argento here? :lol

Anyway, months ago, Donati had a very good interview. Thought you might want to read it:

https://drummagazine.com/virgil-donati-goes-full-prog-with-icefish/

Can't believe they wrote this album long distance. But hey, this shows you that good songwriting skill is really the key. It doesn't matter if you record out of a jam, or in an extended session, or long distance. If you know to write good songs, you will write good songs.

That's ok, Alex. Identity confirmed.  :rollin

Reading again through that interview, it's interesting that Donati considered Irwin of Southern Sons for vocals. Now I can't get out of my head that Icefish is a prog version of Southern Sons. :lol

I came back to this album after a week or so, I'm liking it more than I was liking it before. As I said in earlier posts, I have drifted away from prog metal in the last few years with Haken being the exception but this album has made me remember what it is I liked about this genre so much. It's very well written, well executed, everything fits in to place, the prog doesn't seemed forced at all, it sounds so organic. I really want  to hear the follow up.

As a fun fact, Virgil, Alex and Andrea played on Marco Sfogli's 2nd solo album "reMarcoble". The album also features Peter Wildoer, Ray Riendeau and Matt Guillory. It's really good!

Searching for Andrea Casali's background, I found this:

https://www.astrawebsite.com/home/bio/

Astra started as a Dream Theater cover band. Wow, that means Andrea must have serious bass playing chops.

Listening to their album, I find it funny that their keyboardist Emanuele Casali solos like Alex Argento. :p

I forgot to mention that it will be a contest. From Facebook:
It's time to PLAY with ICEFISH! We just released five “play along” versions of our new album HUMAN HARDWARE.

Now available are

Play Along "Minus Guitars"

Play Along "Minus Bass"

Play Along "Minus Drums"

Play Along "Minus Keyboards"

Play Along "Minus Vocals"

Download one or all five and add your own performance to HUMAN HARDWARE. Each song consists of two separate tracks, the "minus" version (the song without one of the instruments) plus the metronome track. All files are hi-quality .wav files 44.1 kHz / 16 bit. Just load the stems in your preferred DAW software (Cubase, Logic, Protools...) and you're ready to go!

And... we would LOVE to hear your performance. Record a video of you playing along, post the video to YouTube and share it on our Facebook page. We will pick the best guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals play along and send each winner an ICEFISH t-shirt and the "Making Of Human Hardware" Blu-Ray!

This didn't grab me from the first clips I heard.  But Paralyzed is changing my opinion.  I may have to get this.

Found these 2 videos today, they're from a few years ago, but here's Marco playing a couple of his tunes with Andrea and Alex, before IceFish was formed. It's cool to see they've been playing together for many years, and then decided to form their own band.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Played it all the way through for the first time today and enjoyed it, even plugged the RG in and widdled along.

My cd appears to jump in a couple of places so will need to check it on another system.

Instead of creating a new thread I dump it here. Marco Sfogli is part of another project/band feat Thomas Lang and Mike Mills among others.

Ostura - Deathless (Lyric Video)

Sounds cool, will also check out their debut since I new nothing about this project before.

From what little I can see, it looks like they aren't part of the project, just guesting on this song and maybe some more.

Sad. I'd love a project of Mills, Lang, and Sfogli.
