Advice for purchasing a drone
« on: December 24, 2016, 03:30:26 PM »
Hey, first time drone purchaser here, looking to get something for filming landscapes. Being a beginner and a student, I don't want to spend  $1000+ on a drone that doesn't even come with a camera. I am planning on doing some travelling when I finish school, and while I don't know how easy it is to travel with a drone(?), I do want to get a gopro camera for dashcam videos while abroad, so having a drone that is capable of attaching a gopro to is a bonus.

A quick Google search yielded this little gem, at least to me it appears to be, but would like opinions on drone users if it is a worthwhile purchase:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B017DBNPOQ/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

There are some good things written about that one, but most of the bad reviews seem to be coming from people that appear to be regular drone users. The price is nice, but I am Canadian so I have to take into account our shitty dollar. Also, I do not have a 4k TV, so is having a 4k camera pointless?

Then I found this thing:

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B01C32V0KQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1482617410&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=dji+phantom+2

As far as I can tell, DJI seems to be a more respected brand. The price is a bit higher, but if it is a better product, and with all the extras it seems like a good deal, especially the hard case for travelling. There is also  just the drone without all the accessories, is this a better deal?

I appreciate any feedback, and of course for drone users if you can recommend another similarly priced drone that would be great!
