A good friend of mine had a picture of cupcakes that were frosted in such a way as to give the same effect.   It was awesome.

Not bad.

My friend Ken was telling me one time about a conversation he had back in the 80's, when CDs were first coming out and 5.25" floppies were giving way to 3.5" disks that held twice as much.

He said that one day, you'll have a computer chip with your entire music collection on it, and some kind of thing that can play it.  Ken then held up his iPod with a 32GB SSD, basically a chip, for emphasis.  At only 32GB, it wasn't his entire collection, but for a lot of people I'm sure it's plenty.

Yep.

I've always been a sci-fi nerd, and recently having been re-reading some of my faves from Asimov and others.  It's always impressive how many "visions of the future" have come to pass, and just as impressive (in a humorous way) how many "misses" there are.  Characters from stories written in the 1950's have viewers at home upon which they can watch their favorite "bookfilms".  A hit for predicting home video, and a miss for not realizing that film would not be the medium at that point.  For that matter, The Jetsons had videoteleconferencing.  The only "miss" was that it's an upgrade of the phone, not their PC, although that line gets blurrier all the time, too.

In 1999, PDAs were hot, cell phones were gaining traction, and personal audio players had already been around a while.  It wouldn't really have been a stretch to imagine them all being combined in a single device, but the level of detail this guy got is pretty impressive.

I can't find the original interview, but in 1973 James Burke predicted that every child would have their own computer allowing them to connect with all the information of the world. Much more prescient, he predicted that massive databanks would collect everybody's personal information, concurrent with a change in society where people were quite happy to give up all of their personal details for the sake of convenience and interconnectedness.  The dude not only predicted personal computers but the internet and Facebook, with their resulting change in behaviors.

So take that, David Garrold!

Ok some might not find this funny so be aware.

That almost cartoony scream followed by "Thanks alot" made me chuckle quite a bit. He's alright though, nothing happend but some scratches. It just sounds way worse.

Jesus fuck.  :rollin :lol

That's great. Only because it wasn't bad at all though. Truly sounds like a torture scene in a hollywood film if not for the THANKS ALOT.

Yea that's what made it so funny to me, the "thanks alot" sounded so out of place.  :lol

Yeah, I'm removing either the audio or the explanation that he wasn't actually hurt. Maybe change it to a compound fracture of the tibia or something.

When I worked in hospitality people would love to try and extort free stuff out of us by threatening to give a bad review. I have 4200 reservations a month, take your review and shove it up your ass.

YES. Love it.  :heart

I say this knowing that I might offend someone and need to let it be known that not a single shit is given, so please use your chainmail if your skin is tracing-paper-thin.

Anyone that uses any kind of umbrella encompassing consumer review site (Yelp, Trip Advisor, etc.) as anything more than a very quick, skewed overview (from a long distance) of a restaurant (barring few exceptions, less than most circumstances, but they exist, both on the good side and bad) is a doofus dingus. Anyone that reviews the restaurant on said sites as if they're the most world renowned connoisseur writing a review for *insert highly popular foodie mag/blog/whatever* is a connoisseur indeed...of ass eating.

I see so many reviews that are filled with misinformation (it's truly incredible to read someone's pompous as all hell review and in the same review they talk about a red wine, calling it a Pinot Grigio), flat out cuntyness, and straight up ignorance; sometimes the polar opposite by giving a great review for the wrong reasons, like that they got a meal comped off because it was shit and then gave it five stars for the manager doing so. It's 99% steaming bullshit and 1% legit, unbiased, useful information. It's probably less than 1%. If you know how to read them and what you're reading, it can be good. Most people don't, and most use it as a pedestal to make themselves feel like they're not tiny ants instead of giving an actual review. It's great when you read a good review though; but that's like trying to find a needle in a...cesspool. That has zombies piranhas that are trying to eat you all the while. And the ground outside of the cesspool is lava. And then you found out the ruler of this cesspool-lava-land kingdom is O'doyl.

I think it's less about "training" than setting up the circumstance to accommodate the natural behavior of the fish.   My opinion only.

I don't get the humor either, but a) I agree with el Barto, b) the girl on the right looks a lot like my ex-wife (albeit 25 years ago) and c) all the dudes in the back seem to be the same guy.  That still doesn't explain the joke, but still...
