The remarkable part is that he got all three off in a minute. If I were that wasted, and we've all been there before, it would have taken 3 minutes to manage the second one, and I doubt the third one would have gone off inside of 45.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

I saw the pic before I saw who posted it, and said to myself "Zydar?"

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Yeah, I almost wish he had a GoFundMe I could contribute to.  Help him safely pull this off so that he can definitively prove this ridiculous theory false.

I thought the article did say he had some kind of crowdfunding page(s)?  Maybe they've closed?

I don't think so.  I know a lot of them believe that the moon landings were all fake, and if you can believe that thousands of years of recorded observation of space is all "a NASA hoax" then you can believe that literally everything outside of our atmosphere (and apparently some stuff within it) are all part of the hoax.

According to an article I read about this rocket launching Darwin Award nominee... it's Atmosflat   :lol.  Let's disregard that it should be Atmoflat, it takes a special kind of intellect to think that the world is flat.

I don't believe it, I think it's flawed in that it has to ignore or otherwise explain WAYYYYY  to much information, but is the TYPE of thinking any different than literally EVERY person on the planet does at some point or another in our lives?

"I'm not that heavy; just a few pounds over"
"She is WAY into me"
"Gun bans will solve our problems"
"Abstinence is a viable strategy"

We as humans tend NOT to have completely open mind and simply assemble the facts and derive a conclusion.  We lean a certain way and assemble the information to fit, explaining away (in the milder cases) and outright ignoring (in the more extreme cases) that information that doesn't fit.  Framework is important.  If you have a built in excuse - Republicans are criminals only out to make the rich richer; the government is out to screw us at every turn; liberals just want to tax us and tell us what to think - some of this stuff is pretty easy, and that framework takes the place of "facts".

I'm not defending them at all.  I'm saying that it's really easy to point fingers and call them nutjobs, but sometimes it's helpful - for myself as well - to remember that the definition of "insanity" isn't "doesn't agree with me".    Some of the comments here went from "this guy isn't connecting the dots correctly" to more meta arguments about the whole thought process.   I can observe and note the thought process without agreeing with or supporting the conclusions.

I do support underdogs, but ask el Barto, more often than not, I'd much rather get the wrong answer for the right reasons than the right answer for the wrong reasons.

The thing I don't get about Flat Earthers is that it has to have started as a joke. This couldn't be an organic phenomenon, where people suddenly realized they were being lied to. They had to picked it up just to be contrarians and then convinced themselves they're actually right. This makes assholes, rather than idiots.

In the case of this nimrod, he just jumped on the bandwagon to make money. He'd been doing this sort of thing for a while and needed money for a new crash. By "converting" and calling it a science experiment FEers started giving him money. That has a two-fold effect, because now normal people want to give him money to help him crash and burn.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

I came across a flat earther in person once and what amazed me was how adamant they were about how they were right. As if it was painful that people weren't agreeing with them. Like they couldn't even fathom the idea that maybe its round. It was 100% what they thought, all or nothing. The embodiment of a closed mind.

I think the real question though is: who the fuck cares?

Round Earth, flat Earth. I still get up each morning, go to work, pay my bills and live my life and will eventually die. From a psychological perspective though, its pretty fascinating how the human mind can get so deeply wrapped up in conspiracy theory.

Apparently they made a (very shortlived) British sitcom about Hitler and Eva Braun living next to a Jewish couple - called "Heil Honey I'm Home".

My stance regarding flat-Earthers is that they likely need professional help. Sitting down and arguing with them is as pointless as trying to convince a heroine addict to go cold turkey.
