I am too old and cranky to lie.  If my wife asks, "Do these jeans make my ass look big?"  I reply, "No, your big fat ass makes those jeans look small..."  At which point she smacks me and I'm free to go watch football.  Honesty is always the best policy.

Makes sense because pretty much everyone tells the white lies at one point or another. The big lies? I was never good at that. I was good at faking my mother into thinking I wasn't drunk when I was, but I could NEVER EVER EVER lie to my dad. Unless you're a professional poker player, a government agent, or a sociopath (or possibly just an actor) I'm not sure one should be priding themselves on how good of a liar they are.

I am a really horrible, horrible liar. :D

When I lie, anyone can see through me. I avoid eye contact, my hands get real clammy and I start to sweat. I can't form complete sentences and blush horribly. So in short, I really suck at lying. :(


And to answer Phoenix87x's question, I suck at manipulating. Instead, I'm good at being manipulated. :P

I think the crux of this questions comes down to one's emotional and physical control, i.e. poker face. If we start adding in things like motive and intent, we start the psychoanalysis process and get into psychopathology and such.

I think I am physically capable of effectively telling a lie and using it to manipulate people, but I am not the type of person who would choose or desire to do so. So in that case, I could be a good liar, but I tend to not be.
