Lonestar, how was Epica? Did you catch Lacuna Coil too?  Going to that show next week and haven't really listened to Lacuna Coil before so just been starting to get into them.  Epica have been saying this is the full stage show too, was that the case?

Both bands were outstanding, and Epica's stage set was insane. Insomnium was quite good as well, feel free to skip the opener unless you're digging for good position.

It's a Friday after work, no way I make it for the opener and Insomnium would be tough as well.  But thanks, good to hear they were true to bringing the full stage show to NA.

The keyboard players setup is especially epic...as is he, he even crowd surfed while playing at our show :lol

be aware that the drummer for the opening band was injured in the last couple of days so they didn't play last night.  Not sure what the plans are going forward.  We wanted to see at least a little bit of Insomnium, but everything was pulled forward since the opening band didn't play and we just barely made it in time to see Lacuna Coil come on stage.

I have a few good ones coming up.

Michael Sweet of Stryper (solo, acoustic)
Dream Theater
Foo Fighters
Alter Bridge

Where are you seeing them at?  You are from San Francisco, correct?  The closest they are playing from there is either Denver or Spokane, Washington.  I was banking on them playing Spokane in hopes that they would play a little more south like in SoCal, but alast, they are not playing there this December.

I would've liked to have caught a Dream Theater show in the US but they aren't coming close to me.
I will be seeing BTBAM next month however in St.Pete.

Yeah, that does suck, such a great opportunity for a young band...they weren't bad, and put good effort into their performance, but in comparison to what followed they did get forgotten.

Went to Evergrey yesterday. What a great band and what a great show.

Impressive how they combine their heavy, technical sound with so much emotion in the songs.

Times Square for Epica and Lacuna Coil tonight!  :metal :metal

Heading to Denver on Sunday for work but noticed that Incubus are playing at the Red Rocks Amphitheater on Tuesday.  It's sold out, but being that my introduction to that venue was Incubus's DVD from that venue and I was so in awe of the environment that I felt like I really needed to see a concert there and I even went there last time I came out to Denver for work just to see it.  I've got to find a way between work and snagging a ticket to be there.

Picture I took 18 months ago (last time in Denver)

Sadly, I really doubt I get to see Incubus at the Red Rocks tomorrow, work is kicking my ass and I'm actually fairly sick at the moment.  I've got to power through just to get my work done, but I doubt I'll have the time nor energy to be able to attend that concert.

However, Epica and Lacuna Coil last Friday was an amazing show.  Simone of Epica sang a song with Lacuna Coil and Cristina of Lacuna Coil sang a song with Epica.  We also got the crew out on stage rocking out during the encore and goofing around while Epica played.  And maybe the coolest moment above all that, Cristina Scabbia sings Highway to Hell while Lacuna Coil has Technical Difficulties

Managed to get to see Weezer last Saturday night at the Red Rocks Amphitheater outside of Denver.  Perfect weather and just an amazing venue.  It was every bit of awesome as I had hoped it would be.  The setting, the band, the people, were all awesome.  I had a total blast.  Not really into Weezer, just knew a few of the songs, but it was fun and since it was the last show of their tour and they had a fanclub thing for the concert, Weezer did a short preview of a new song live.  Kind of interesting to see a band do a partial song live, but was cool cause it was unique.  Concert was sold out and I had been working all day and checking prices, but was just about to decide not to go when a ticket dropped $40 right before start time.  :metal

Next concert for me is 311 (for the 4th time this year) and it's over Halloween weekend and they are advertising it as a Halloween show so since I got the gf to come with me for this show we are thinking of dressing up as ketchup and mustard for it.

Repost from the IQ thread to here:

Had such a fantastic night yesterday before, during and after the IQ show.
I had dreamt about this for such a long time but could never have dreamt of it becoming such a magical night that it was.

IQ played a brilliant set of:

        From the Outside In
        The Darkest Hour
        Breathtaker
        Newbie No. 1
        The Road of Bones
        Guiding Light
        Newbie No. 2
        Harvest of Souls
        Frequency
        Closer
        Until the End
        Failsafe

        Headlong
        The Wake

wonderful pre show meetup with about 30 others at a restaurant close by.

Got a perfect spot just in front of Peter Nicholls from where I thorougly enjoyed the show. Joined hands with Peter during the third song I reached up with mine fingers outstreched and he reached out and linked up.

Met Michael and Peter after the show and got The Road of Bones (brought from home) an The Wake 25th anniversary box signed.

I had been trying to find the box of The Wake for a while but it was never possible to find. Well they had one of them and I got it for 150 SEK. Bought a t-shirt as well but due to delivery problems it will be posted to me.

Also randomly met up with Micheal Holmes and some of the crew after the gig. Walked with them and talked to Mike on my way to the Subway but ended up in a pub with them instead for a beer and some further talking. Mike took a groupie and posted on his FB so if you see a bearded fella with a Shattered Fortress t-shirt there it is probably me.

Totally amazing show and a really magical experience.

That's terrible for a concert experience to be ruined due to traffic.

I'm going to be seeing Halestorm and Starset tomorrow at the Anaheim House of Blues.  It's right near Disneyland, but I'll be leaving my work office at 5PM and hopefully, get to a parking spot around 6PM, so hopefully, I do not run into bad traffic near that particular area on a Friday night.

Maybe, if I do have a fair amount of time before the show, I might eat at the HOB restaurant.  Anyone that's been at a House of Blues restaurant, is the food good?

Saw Halestorm at the House of Blues yesterday.  They were fantastic.  Every bit of a top live band that you can ask for.  I recommend seeing them.  Great crowd.  Lots of playing time (they played for 90 minutes and every bit of it count).  I got in and out of the parking lot easily and it only cost me $9 for parking.

Starset was also good as well, but their sound felt very loud and hard to distinguish which can work well if you have an idea of what the band is about, but I had a hard time making out what their vocalist was singing.

How is the new house of blues anaheim as a venue? Did you eat at the HOB restaurant? I am seeing Breaking Benjamin there in 2 days and was curious about the venue. Thank you.

I personally liked the new House of Blues Anaheim.  Managed to get a spot on the 4th floor parking pretty easily.  Got there at around 5:50 or so.  Got in line at 6:00.  I did not eat at the restaurant since I wanted to save money.  The building also validates your parking. When I got into the building at around 7:00-ish or so, the floor was not jammed packed yet, and it was easy to get a spot on the middle of the floor.  This was on a Friday as well.  However, it was jammed at around 7:20-ish, and the first band went out on 7:30, but I had a great view behind the soundboard.  Pretty much, anywhere in the first floor is a good view, unless you are short and are behind tall people. The sound is pretty good.  Heard Halestorm nice and loud and clear (can't say the same for Starset though).

I'm also going to the Breaking Benjamin concert as well on Monday and since, this is apparently a more-stripped down concert, they should have good quality sound.

Overdue for an update.

2/7-11 Cruise to the Edge (epic/amazing experience)
2/26 Pain of Salvation- Webster Hall NYC (great set, though the set felt a little on the short side)
5/11 Mastodon- Hammerstein Ballroom NYC (very good show)
5/19 Metallica- Gillette Stadium, MA (Excellent show, some cool pics posted in the Metallica thread)
5/31 Iron Maiden- Prudential Center, NJ (Last minute decision to go with Millahh as some decent tix became available for cheap. Very glad I went, even if I get the same setlist exactly at Barclay's next month, because the band is just so on point)
6/4 Mr Big- BB Kings, NYC (Really enjoyed this, you could do a lot worse than getting to watch Billy and Paul shred for a couple hours and Eric Martin's voice still sounds pretty good)
7/22 Iron Maiden- Barclay's Center, NYC (Same setlist as NJ in May, another great show from the band)
8/22 Neal Morse Band- Gramercy Theater, NYC- Love TSOAD, so really enjoyed this sjow
9/1 Haken- Foundry @ Fillmore, Philly *VIP
9/2 Haken- Highline Ballroom, NYC
9/3 Haken Hard Rock Hotel, Washington DC- Haken weekend was beyond epic, need to upload some of my photos
9/11 Paul McCartney- Prudential Center, Newark NJ- Hey Jude singalong with Sir Paul >>> all other concert singalongs.
9/24 Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress- Irving Plaza, NYC- Probably my show of the year so far, the crowd was beyond electric and the band nailed it.
10/12 Guns N' Roses- Prudential Center, Newark NJ- Bucket list show for me and not too far behind TSF as one of my favorite shows of the year.
10/28- Thank You Scientist- Mexicali Live, Teaneck NJ
11/18 Dream Theater- Paramount Theater, Asbury Park NJ

Waited until the last minute (literally about 3 hours before doors) for both Paul McCartney and GnR and managed to score great deals for both. Paid half of face value for an 18th row ticket in the front side section for Paul, which was ultimately upgraded to 11th rown by StubHub because the person I bought it from accidentally double-sold my ticket. And then I paid I think about 60% of face for Guns N' Roses and ended up 12th row almost dead center.
Photobucket sucks.
