Neal Morse tonight :metal

 :metal

Meeting up with Kev?

I just texted him touch base...we had spoke about it a couple months ago. I'm sure I'll see him as the venue is relatively small...I think it's only like a 300 seat venue. Probably just see him there as the wife wants to take me out to dinner for my B-Day before we go to the show. Each month we take turns picking the date night so this month just so happened to be my turn AND Neal Morse was in town on my actual birthday.....so, she's going to see the Neal Morse band  :lol She's heard all the music before but she's not a die hard fan by any means.

Just got a text from the gf, apparently I'm going to see Train and OAR this June so that's getting added to the list.

I saw Train on their cruise and they covered all of led zepp II so if they throw some songs in their regular show I'll be pumped.

For all the Final Fantasy fans, Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy have announced upcoming tour dates for this year:

https://www.ffdistantworlds.com/concert/

This year Final Fantasy turns 30 and there is no chance I'm missing out on this. They are playing The Royal Albert Hall in London on the 4th November (almost 3 years to the day since I last saw them play there  :hefdaddy)

This is not to be missed for any Final Fantasy fan (or video game music fan in general actually)

Don't think anyone has mentioned this but apologies if they have. Riverside have announced a European tour:

https://www.riversideband.pl/en/news/item/riverside-towards-the-blue-horizon-tour-2017a

They are playing about 45 minutes away from me so I think I'll be going to this  :metal

In addition to Ayreon Universe show I'm seeing in September in Tilburg, I've also got Arstidir + iamthemorning show at March 10th, and I'm pretty damn excited for it. Huge thank you to Tyrias for introducing me to Arstidir.

Thought of going to Epica show at February 24th, but decided to pass. I saw them on the previous tour and I'm not too impressed with the new album, and I don't really like the venue they're playing.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

whatttt, the new album is their best IMO.  They put on a great show a couple months ago here, but I noticed their setlists are shorter in Europe though.

May 10th - Stoned Jesus - definitely going, they are playing Seven Thunders Roar in full :metal
October 20th - Sigur Ros - I'm not a big fan but I'd like to see them. Fortunately, there is more than enough time to decide.

I will be at these although I don't expect to buy my ticket for DP/AC until day of likely. (already got a floor ticket for IM)

Also, considering going to Queen+Lambert.  That could be awesome.

Anyway, AFI tonight in NYC and tomorrow in Boston.  I'm so pumped, they seem to play one rare/old song each night plus shuffle the rest of the set list up.  I haven't seen them since 2001 and their music has changed quite a bit since then.

Add these to my list:

Incubus - July 14, NJ
Sublime with Rome and Offspring - September 12, NJ

My review of this past weekends concerts... well AFI was amazing both nights and both nights were very different shows.  Friday night was New York City, sold out 3k Terminal 5 venue.  They had some cool lights for some of the songs and there was some nice big mosh pits as well as lots of singing along.  They played one really old song, which was the rare song for the evening.  I was really happy because it's one of my favorites from their 3rd album which was the first one that I had.  This was my first time seeing them since 2001 and they did not disappoint and their live on stage energy instantly reminded me of why I loved their live show as a kid.  Since there has been such a huge difference in their sound over the years, the mood in the venue seemed to change between the older punk songs and the newer rock songs.  This is one of the newer songs which I really like and I love the vocals.

AFI - The Conductor Live at Terminal 5

Saturday morning I drove up to Boston.  This venue was significantly smaller, 1k Paradise Rock Club.  This show I enjoyed much more.  There was so much energy in this small concert and you can see from my video, just how much smaller this place was (and I was all the way as far back as you can go).  There wasn't much of a mosh pit since people were so crammed, but I just chilled in the back and rocked out in my own space until closer to the end of the show.  The band was on fire again.  So much energy.  They opened the show with the song they closed with the night before.  Between the two nights they played 7 different songs so we got some variety and this night they played a song they hadn't played in a really long time and was really rare.  I didn't even know it, had to find out it was on a fan club vinyl the next day.  My video of it has apparently been a pretty big hit on youtube due to the rarity.  Anyway, they also did a double encore this night and took a fan request for the final song.  I had gotten right up front by this time and could see the band members talking about what to play, they literally did not have an idea coming back out of what to play.  It was so cool to see that up close.

AFI - Now The World Live at Paradise Rock Club

Currently at the Lordi concert - which if you know Lordi, it's a bit of fun... however, I've never cried from laughing at an opening band before. If you wish, find Goth Brooks on YouTube...

Edit: I feel like I should give more details... death metal, industrial, make up wearing, playing I'm a little bit country... with a harmonica.

Let's see...

Overkill - 2/27
Iron Maiden - 6/27
Deep Purple - 8/16

That's all so far. Not many artists I feel like seeing coming this way. But we'll see as the year goes by.

and I am pretty sure I am going to see Less Than Jake and Pepper this Friday.  Not going to LA for another week and it looks like we are celebrating my mothers birthday on Saturday night not Friday so I expect to be there.
