A Question The Astonishing Did Not Answer

Who the hell are the four impaled people on DTF's RavenSkill Red theme which I've had on since January?
This..
Remains..
The question..

I always thought that that they were soldiers holding up swords or something.

But yeah, what the hell is it?

Interesting, doesn't seem like a soldiers stance to me though, they seem saggy and lifeless heh
At one point I thought they were hanged by the neck.

I thought they were hanging too at first because of the limp nature.

I don't think they're impaled. There's no context for that. I don't see how they look limp, either. Besides that, there are five, not four, spears. There are five soldiers drawn as black blobs, not knowing where one begins and the other ends. It might as well be a Rorschach test.

Switch to the Ravenskill Red theme in the forum. At the top, to the right of the Ravenskill, logo there's a group of five men. He thinks they're impaled but they aren't.

How do I change the forum theme? I don't see the option.

It's a question for XJ, since he made the theme.

I am pretty sure they are just soldiers with spears, the Ravenskill Militia.  They way they are drawn is a little odd though.
