My cosplay was a huge hit. Con pictures inside.

I had discussed with my friend several months ago that I would be Hagrid for Halloween. Shortly thereafter, we discovered Wizard Con was coming to Tulsa, so we decided to attend. I decided I might as well don the Hagrid costume, and I'm sooo glad I did. The most fun part was all the pictures I got to take with people. People were stopping me all day long to take their pictures with me, and I loved every bit of it. Especially the kids! They lit up when they saw me.

Anyway, here are my favorite pictures... with the last of them being some of the randoms who came up to me. My friend decided to photograph them to "document my popularity."

I promise I'm smiling in all of them; the beard just covers it up.

Very nice.

On a side note, can anyone explain why costumes are now called cosplay? I know what it stands for. 10 years ago this thread would have been about Metal junkies awesome costume. Seems like a completely unnecessary new term to me.

I think it might have stemmed from costume based role playing in things like LARP and bedroom fantasies.

My Cozplay is always a big hit as well, but I can't share pics of that, I'd likely get banned for it.

I don't know; I'm probably showing my age, but I always associate "cosplay" with those CSI episodes from the early aughts where there was a crime and it was a sex party with people all dressed in dog costumes or something.   Sue me if you have to, but to me, "costume" is fun and wonderful and childlike (in a good way) and "cosplay" is creepy and icky and childlike (in a way that makes me want to take a shower for a week).   

On a more positive note, MetalJunkie, how'd you do with the umbrella against Deadpool?!?   :)
