So, I just wanted a quick view/ a quick poll on what everyone's favorite song is, by the song's lyrics writer. I will only add full songs and a song that was contributed by and only by the lyric writer. Since Octavarium and CAught in a Web, and Take the Time were not written by just one person, they won't be included. So, what's your ranking for James' songs?

1) Sacrificed Sons
2) The Way it Used to Be
3) Disappear

Blind Faith
Disappear
Vacant

Disappear and Vacant are two of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've ever heard.

Agreed.

Interestingly, these polls made me realize that, for the few DT songs where I don't care for the lyrics, most of them are James', although the two that you mention are two of my favorites.

1. Sacrificed Sons
2. Vacant
3. Blind Faith

I'm not sure if it would make my top three even if it was included, but Medicate is also a favorite of mine. It's probably my favorite part of Octavarium.

I find Far From Heaven to be much more emotional than Vacant.

Three options aren't enough for this one. Labrie's lyrics are fantastic.

I also love them, as they are really relatable. Can almost feel them.

Disappear. This always makes me remember being at the deathbed of my father. The lyrics captured it perfectly.

I think people hype up Kevin Moore as the lyrical genius of DT. And although I think he's probably overall the best in terms of contributions, I don't think anyone in the band could have written a better set of lyrics for Disappear. The music itself is incredibly moving, and the lyrics encapsulate and elevate the mood perfectly. I don't know if we'll ever get such a powerful lyric from JLB again.
