Modern pop tunes into 80s remixes
« on: August 19, 2016, 08:34:25 AM »
So there's this guy doing remixes of modern pop tunes in 80s fashion:

Firework - 80s Dream (Katy Perry)

The groovy bass lines, synth harmonies, drum sound, synths chords and everything is just spot on.  :lol  :tup

Huh no one?  :lol

I don't know, I just really dig his arrangements/remixes and capturing of the 80s sound. Hell I don't even listen to Ariana but I think her voice really suits this. She could easily been an artist from that time period.

Focus on 1985 - Ariana Grande

i listened to the katy perry one for a few minutes and i just don't think it works because the vocals still don't sound like they fit in the 80's. especially evident on the chorus where there was just a MASSIVE disconnect between the music and the vocals.

Yea I agree the vocals was the weak point on that track or atleast the chorus, the verse worked better. The music was the best part. Arianas vocals are a bit better on the other track.

Yeah, Ariana Grande works better because her voice is 80ish, while Perry's is more modern-sounding, if that makes sense. All in all, a very good job with capturing the musical sound of the 80s.

Can't say I noticed a revival, what are you refering to?

I tend to agree with Kotow there, especially in the fashion world. As for music, I don't know. But I grew up in the 80s and me love some music from that time, as shameful as it is! :rollin :rollin :rollin

Have no idea about fasion so that may be true. Can't say i've noticed a revival of 80s music in todays pop music scene other than a nod here and there. Then again i'm not an avid radio listener.

Two new ones:

Fifth Harmony - Sledgehammer First thought it was Peter Gabriels lol

Adriana Grande - Into You

I like these two, never heard of Fifth Harmony but after some listen I think I prefer the 80s version.  :lol

Can't stand the original anymore but this remix brought it to life again:
