Don't understand what's wrong with it? All the greatest ones at the top. To me, FII is too high and WDADU too low, but other than that a very sensible ranking.

The list is OK, fairly average opinion.

But the reasons given for the choices aren't really convincing.

Citing New Millenium instead of Lines in the Sand/Trial of Tears as one of the better tracks in FII, naming Repentance one of the most interesting in SC.

The top 5 were so predictable, tho.

I rank FII a lot higher and Black CLouds a lot lower. And Octavarium is my #1 but otherwise ok.

I don't completely agree with this (Octavarium, The Astonishing, and Falling Into Infinity are too low; Awake is much too high for my tastes) but it's not completely terrible.

Train of Thought should be a tad higher. DT 12, I'd put lower than FII. I prefer 8VM way over Six Degrees...

The bottom four were the same as mine (I have WDaDU at 11 instead of 13) and the top two were the same (just switch their placement) but Octavarium being so low ruins the whole list.

Haven't been here in a while...am I alone in my opinion The Astonishing is widly ambitious....but terribly executed?  It's BY FAR my lowest ranked album in the the DT catalog.  Am wondering if the consensus of the board is TA is among the band's best.

As of now (half a year on from release) The Astonishing is their best work to me. I think it's incredible what they pulled off with that album, and so far into their career. Maybe albums like Scenes or Images were more ground-breaking in their ways, and they're both great albums of course, but TA is just so enjoyable from start to finish.

I think it's pretty good. The problem is that "pretty good" doesn't really work for something as long and as ambitious as The Astonishing, so it's probably not one I'll go back to often. I still have no idea how to rank it, since it's so different. Probably somewhere in the middle.

I can't say it is knocking on the doors of the Big 3 (Awake, I&W and Scenes), or even my number 4 album (6DOIT) but I might end up putting it 5th; it's that good.

Never seen an album dividing people like TA. It's not a bad album but it is not consistant enough for the lenght of the project.
