Home.

Why do you WHOMP WHOMP?

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

WILL YOU MARRY MEEEUH tbh I would totally include some djent in my wedding playlist, throw in some Shattered Skies maybe :metal

Will an official "home roulette" ever see the light of day?
Yeah I'd sneak in some djent too. And I'd like to, seems a lot of fun and a great way to discover new music!

So, Scorp, what's the origin of your username?

I needed a username when I first got onto this site, and I didn't much think about it when I first joined, because I didn't think that this would become my favourite internet hangout, bar none. Since I happened to be listening to Megadeth's The Scorpion, I thought that that was a cool name. Looking back, I probably wouldn't choose it again, mainly because when people find out that I'm German, their first association is then The Scorpions, and I can't stand them. I've gotten used to it, but I haven't used it on any other sites either.

Can you just forgive Subzero and fucking leave it be?

Nah, he's a huge dick.

What's your highest CP pokemon?

I'm not a Pokemon guy, sorry.

Scorpion, where does your profile picture come from?

Why, my profile picture is the amazing Viceroy Bubbles von Salamancer, a salamander from what is probably my favourite thing ever: the webcomic Homestuck. It takes a while to get going, but I definitely recommend it to everyone to at least try it out - there's a lot of amazing stuff happening in later parts, some superb writing and a great use of the possibilities of a webcomic compared to traditional comics, with the use of gifs, flash animations and music.

Are you your favorite deathcore lobster? :P

Of course. Do you actually think that somebody can hold a candle to my deathcore-lobster-iness?

No idea, really. Ask Parama - I just found it catchy and just an all-around great phrase.

What is something you are passionate about that no one knows about in this forum?

I'm pretty into playing Squash, I'm not sure if I ever shared that with the forum. For two years now, I've been playing once a week and it's definitey the most fun that I've ever had with a sport. Other than that, I've recently developed a passion for experimenting in the kitchen, with results of varying success, but I've always had fun, at least. The last thing that I made that was really good was my own lemon vodka, that shit was super tasty - I'm not usually a pure vodka guy, but that was just really good.

How many years have you been a part of the DT community?
14 years now.

I was sixteen when I made my first account, under a different name that I don't remember now. I was an annoying little shit, as dt.net/bb was my first forum ever and I had no idea or care about forum etiquette. I remember the first things I posted were copypastas of rants written by Larry the Cable Guy. Someone eventually called me out over it, and I ultimately made a new account and tried to work my way in as a regular member of the community.

I remember being fascinated by the level of intellect in the debates around the forum. It was always mesmerizing to keep up with hefdaddy, OgreJedi, and ViolentGreen (I miss you, bud) in their philosophical discussions.

Not Guitarded. Something so far removed from me I couldn't even begin to remember it, and wouldn't recognize it if I saw it. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I made a point that my legitimate account wasn't connected to that one because I was such a wanker on it.

I don't play guitar as often as I used to, but I might be able to whip up the MoP solo after some time practicing/relearning. I don't have a webcam but I might try to record it in Audacity if I can find the time.

What are your three favorite bands?

1. Metallica. I don't listen to them as much these days - I tend to lean more towards classic rock. That being said, they will always have a special place in my heart for the impact they've had on my life, and me picking up guitar.
2. Journey. Because Journey.
3. This is a tough one. I feel like it alternates depending on my mood. Sometimes Queen, sometimes Kansas, sometimes Boston.

Here's a quick and dirty Audacity recording I did with extremely cheap equipment (15 watt amp and Guitar Hero mic plugged into PC). It's not perfect and I tripped up a time or two, but I'm at that point of rehearsal where each time I play it now will be progressively worse.

https://clyp.it/0xa4c3k4

I avoid the dive at the end because I don't have a Floyd Rose tremolo and I don't want to yank all my strings out of tune.
