Another that gets me, and one I don't hear too often (which is good, because it's brutal to listen to):

Elton John - The Last Song
I don't want MP playing with DT unless they were making a drummer change. If they let MM go and bring back MP, then fine, but no guest appearance please.

Jordan- Rival Sons

The wolves look to the moon
And the ocean to the sky
I've looks to my whole life
Now I have to say goodbye

But to say that I've lost you
It's a selfish thing to say
I've never seen nothing as beautiful
As watching you slip away

I'd rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free

You did it all with feeling
And failure, you took it gracefully
You said third star to the right
image: https://static.urx.io/units/web/urx-unit-loader.gif

And straight on until morning
When you need me, you know
That's where I'll be

Now the rest of my life without you
Right now it's hard to conceive
You said, don't cry form me now
You've got to remember
There is no death for those that believe

I'd rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free

Beneath the Surface hits me really deep because I went through a friendship like that. The lyrics perfectly described what I was going through at the time, and thus made it really hard to listen to. It's a beautiful song but damn. "Until one day I stopped caring, and began to forget why I longed to be so close. So I disappeared into the darkness, and the darkness turned to pain, and never went away, until all that remained was buried deep beneath the surface." That is me.

Haken - Bound by Gravity.  I showed the lyric video on youtube to my girlfriend just days before she died.  That song has been recurring on and off in my head for the last 3 months.  Beautiful song but damn it hurts.  :(

Although I like a good ballad they don't tend to touch me in the feels - with the odd exception.

As a mental health nurse it's the two ballads on Alice Cooper's From The Inside.
The quiet room - where the protagonist is in a padded cell for his own safety. He's been telling the walls all about his life.

How You Gonna See Me Now - he's being released from the hospital and will have to face his family and friends following his breakdown.

Wow, I thought I was one of the only people on Earth who knew of this album. My mother owned it when I was a kid, so I heard it very often growing up.
I've actually played "How You Gonna See Me Now" for people who claimed to be big Alice Cooper fans, and they had no idea it was him until I told them. That's how much of
a departure it is from his usual work. Definitely a great song. I also like "Jackknife Johnny" from that album.

WHOA.  I did not know that was him either, and I'm not a music noob (though I only know the hits from AC).  I LOVE that song.

Some here might find his stuff to be hokey.  But, Darius Rucker's "It Won't Be Like This For Long" has always hit me hard.  Considering my daughter was about 16 months old when this song came out, it has always struck a cord with me.  And then, a few years later, she started singing along with it...  Brutal.  The thought of her all grown-up is both heart-warming and heart-breaking at the same time.  To this day, it's hard to listen to it without tearing up a bit.  But, it's a beautiful song.

I love Gone Away by The Offspring, but it's getting harder to listen to.  Everyone I know or love keep dying.

The very soul of what was once real music is now lost in a digital quagmire of emotionless sonic madness.

Alice Cooper checked into an alcohol rehab center and this album is basically his experiences in the facility... either way, it's a pretty deep album and hits hard.

Jordan- Rival Sons

I just saw them open KILL IT for Sabbath a couple weeks ago.  They are my new favorite band.  I have this album ("Head Down") on order and can't wait to hear it.  (There is a KILLER acoustic version - Scott and Jay sitting on a couch - on YooToob, if you're interested).  Paul Rodgers is one of my top three favorite vocalists of all time, and Jay has that same intangible quality that Paul does (I think he sounds a lot like him, too, though he really doesn't, if that makes sense).

Just about anything from Eva Cassidy, but especially her covers of ''Fields of Gold", "Songbird", and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

(yeah, I cheated and picked more than one. I'm just not able to bring it all down to one song)

That was a goosebump moment live seeing Stevie with one white spotlight on him and the other white light on this disco ball. That really gave me goosebumps.

I'm going to go with Porcupine Tree's Shesmovedon. Though I first heard the Deadwing version of the song, which I still like from an aural perspective for a certain warmth in the mix that's not present on the original, I'm specifically thinking about the Lightbulb Sun version for this thread. It's a little more emotionally raw. The very end of the solo (the build to the big bend and subsequent lick at 5:00) crushes me every time.
Photobucket sucks.

Child of Dust - Thrice

This one leaves me tingly every time I listen to it. So simple, so beautiful. I almost always listen to it twice in a row since it's pretty short. I think part of the reason I love it so much is because its the closer to the Alchemy Index, which is my favorite album ever (if you can call it an album).

from 12:38 until the end of the song, makes me cry everytime. Honestly I don't know why. Its a really powerful moment.
