Quote of the Day!
« on: May 16, 2016, 04:55:34 PM »
I thought it'd be cool to have one of these here. In my English class, my English teacher has a quote for us everyday that is quite controversial. We take sides and give the reasons to why you agree or disagree with the quote. It brought some interesting perspectives from both sides so I thought I should give it a shot. So everyday, I will be posting a quote and comment, telling whether you agree or disagree.

May 16, 2016: "Those who do not appreciate life do not deserve life."
-John Kramer

Personally, I'm for both sides. If you do not appreciate something, why have it in the first place? If you don't appreciate life, is it worth having life? If you don't appreciate your parents for what they do, is it even worth having a parent?

But, no one can choose whether they are born or not. It is all about to the parents and people born from a broken home didn't choose to have that kind of life.

I think in the end, life is so fragile and precious, everyone deserves life, even if they don't appreciate it.
Thoughts?

It's totally fine Trooper! Had a good laugh and some of Kotowboy's quotes struck a chord with me. I don't mind at all!  :tup

May 16, 2016: "Those who do not appreciate life do not deserve life."
-John Kramer

Don't get me wrong, I love the franchise, but I think everything John Kramer stands for is really stupid. He keeps stating his distaste for murder, yet many of his "tests" are straight-up murder, putting people in traps in which some people have no possibility of surviving. Maybe the real murderers in some cases are *spoiler* Lawrence Gordon, Amanda Young and Matt Hoffman since they were the people that actually put most of these people in the traps but you get the gist.

He stretches his norms all the way to actually killing someone off because of his smoking habits, I don't think that has anything to do with "not appreciating life" at all. :lol

They're good movies but the plot and the reasoning behind some actions are really really flawed.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

I'm not feeling that one. it basically says - if you're in a bad place and your circumstances and situation make you miserable - then you don't deserve to live... :dunno:

Interesting answers!

May 17, 2016“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”
― Marilyn Monroe

I strongly dislike this mindset with every inch of my soul. "Deal with me because this is how I am" is so self-centered and lazy. If you're selfish impatient and out of control, fix it.
Besides, nobody cares about your best when you're always at your worst.

Reminds me of what a comedian once said about the song " My Way ".

Basically - well I was a terrible person but I lived life my way.
