What Song is This?
« on: May 12, 2016, 09:42:44 AM »
I've been trying to figure out what this song is.
It's not something that'll just come to me, because I don't think I ever knew what it was called.
I don't know any lyrics, or if there are any lyrics.

This recording I made is all I have to go on (don't mind the Nic Cage): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypAZUuPaNQc
I don't even know if that's 100%.

I'm pretty sure it's some kind of old-timey folk song that I probably heard when I was a kid.
If you know anything that's even a little bit similar to the recording, I'm accepting all submissions.

I recognize it, but can't name it.

Also, NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR CAGE.

Not what you're looking for, but you're hitting pretty close to Tiomkin's theme to The Guns of Navarone.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

Kind of reminds me of this moment:

It's not exactly that melody, but then you told us to share "anything that's even a little bit similar", so here you go. Maybe try the full song too, it's the "old-timey folk" one indeed.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

It sounds like the vocal melody in this song to me, but I doubt this is the song you're looking for. It's an awesome song, though.

(Dylan doesn't allow his shit on youtube, so this is a cover, but a really nice one).

Yes, it was Redemption Song by Bob Marley. I don't listen to Bob Marley.

Turns out, all of my assumptions were wrong. I found it familiar because my friend plays it around me frequently.

First of all, I know my sig is horrendously out of date. I used to have a script running that updated it.

Second of all, I live in Bridgeport.

Ah. Explains the sox thing ;). I seriously hope it's an all Chicago World Series.

I lived in Mt Greenwood for 3 years and now I live in the NW burbs. But my favorite pizza place is on the south side (Vito and nicks) and I'll always try to find excuses to go there. I'm thinking Father's Day may be a good excuse :lol
