It's pretty much been all good.  In fact, the only thing I haven't liked about this incarnation is the irrigidity/inflexibility of the live performances due to deciding to stick with click tracks.

I hear you.  But on the upside:  I think people kind of picked up on MM's stress on the DT12 tour at times.  He and the rest of the band have now gotten so comfortable with the click that they really look and sound like they are having a great time.  I just saw them last night, and you could see and feel the joy that they all had being up there playing and performing, especially Mangini.

To answer the main question in the thread, pretty much all of it.  The MP era was fantastic.  But the MM era is as well.  Three fantastic albums and tours in a row now.  It is starting to feel like this is a band that just can't miss.

And to think that the whole MM era was preceded by Raw Dog.

To me this is not the post-MP period, but rather the MM period.

Does Winery Dogs count?  Also, everything by DT has been good since MP left.

Okay, but...relevance?  A one-off track for a video game isn't really indicative of where the band was going.  It isn't really indicative of anything, IMO.  If it had been fantastic, that still wouldn't really have meant much in the grand scheme of things.

;)  Cram, did you see them on this tour?  I seem to remember seeing you posting about one show or another, but can't remember.

Oh yea, it was a blast especially the meet up before hand, sucks there wasn't a large DTF meet up at your show, but we had a good time in NYC with a few forum members before and after the show.

I've made my complaints about the show in the complaints thread, but they were very minor even if I was vocal about them (just discussion points), but overall I thought the video show and performance were great.

Overall I would say ADTOE was uneven (highlights being Bridges in the Sky, Breaking All Illusions), DT12, while never reaching the heights of its predecessor (aside from maybe Illumination Theory) is probably a more consistent album. I'm still digesting The Astonishing, but it's slowly growing on me.

I think the Mangini era has been great so far and it gave a new energy and inspiration to DT in many aspects.
At this point, after two albuns with sound problems, I think the band reached a great level of sound production with TA. My only and little complain is about the drum sound, that I wish it was more organic. The things that I really miss from MP era are the variated setlists and THE OFFICIAL BOOTLEGS!!! Today I was listening to the Made in Japan, and what a great and interesting performance! And I forgot that Roger Glover himself also mixed the DT version! IMO the care that MP had with these details and his work to give the fans this type of product will be always missing. It's sad that DT seems to have no interest in new Ytse jam releases of any era.

We did get the Christmas live CD and it was FREE so that was even better than the ytse jam releases, but I do agree that the live spontaneity is something I miss.

I agree with that and it was really very cool from DT, but in the last 5 years, it was the only "Ytse jam bootleg/demo/cover" that they released.

As much as I would love more, what else is there really for them to release in that span?  The only thing I can say would be a show from this past summer tour with the anniversary set list.  Between the two official DVDs and the Christmas release we really got a taste of everything from the past 5 years from the band through those three releases.  Now a DVD of this current tour and maybe a bonus of say the Wacken summer show would be all that is missing, but enough time hasn't passed to really get upset about that.

I wish I had video of Cram rocking out in the aisle at the RCMH show. Trust me, he enjoyed it more than anyone. The multiple drinks he had at the meetup helped, of course.   :lol

Besides the ones you listed, I can remember of complete drummer's auditions (at least, complete MM audition), ADToE demos, DVD of the entire show from London 7/24/11 and TA demos (this one, for a future release of course). And a lot of material from MP era, that belongs to MP, but I'm pretty sure (for some interviews from MP and JP that I read), if the band still had interest to release something of that period, it could be done a financial agreement with MP to do it.  I'm not very upset about that, I just think that would be really cool if the band continued to release this kind of material much more frequently and in more quantity like they used to do.
