Your fave TV shows when you were little.
« on: April 22, 2016, 04:37:49 PM »
This is an oddity. It was Australian.

Other than that it was Knight Rider, Airwolf and Starman starring Robert Hays from Airplane!

I lived in the UAE - we had TV from all over the place :P

Ah, the 80s...

First off, we had the original and most awesome NBC Must See TV on Thursday night featuring:

The Cosby Show
Family Ties
Cheers
Night Court

Other favorites growing up were:

Knight Rider
Hunter
Little House on the Prairie (WTF, I know :lol)
Dallas (I only watched this sometimes)

Beast Wars: Transformers. I still love this show, and today is its 20th Anniversary. Say what you will about the outdated CGI, but I still think it looks great for its age, and the writing and characters more than make up for it.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. This show still holds up, and anything after just can't compare to its brilliance. In my opinion the last great sitcom. Friends was pretty funny, but I wasn't in love with it.

What....... what is this? :lol I've never heard of it, but now I'm curious. It sounds like the name of some obscure experimental prog band.

I'll make my list later, but there are so many. I used to do nothing but watch TV and play video games (which has now all been replaced by sitting in front of a computer instead). But "90s kid" basically covers it.

Dude, you and I should have been friends growing up.

My favorite show, by far, in my formidable years (grades 1-5) was The A-Team. Whatever was second was a distant second.

Yes but I could only watch them when someone had nickleodeon. One year we went to Portugal on holiday and the villa had it and it's all we watched.

Unfortunately - week 2 we were there was *nothing* *but* Flintstones and that cartoon is f------ing shit.

It's not a good show, but I remember watching a lot of Charmed when I was younger. 3 hot sisters (later a 4th was introduced) kicking witches, zombies, demons seemed like the peak of television back in the 90s, early 00s. Looking back at it, the show was ridiculously silly and me and my dad always joked about the fact that the sisters got their home smashed up in every episode and must spend thousands of dollars on repairing/buying new furniture every week. But hey, at least Alyssa Milano was hot!

Otherwise a lot of shows I watched then are shows I can still enjoy today. Simpsons, Friends (the reruns still hold up for the most part) and shows like that.

It's certainly not a high point of television, but it's not a bad show at all. I never saw it when I was younger, but I caught many episodes more recently, and found it quite enjoyable, and not just because of Alyssa Milano, although that's always a huge bonus. :lol

So basically Blob's combination is 38 D's + sci fi.

Amen!

In America on Saturday mornings there was a guy named Captain Bob who drew with different mediums 530am. So with a bowl of cereal in hand I watched him religiously.

Alyssa Milano was number 1 on my list of favorite attractive celebrity for quite a few years (before being overtaken by Charlize Theron). :tup :tup

I remember watching Charmed, too :tup it was a good show.
When I was around 5 and few years later we didn't really have many good things on national TV but we had some German channels and they had great kids shows like Oggy and the Cockroaches, Disney’s Recess, What's with Andy?, Hey Arnold, The Powerpuff Girls etc. All of those were German dubbed and I never knew German but I enjoyed them :lol
Later we got those old American sitcoms on national TV and I was watching them all the time: Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Full House, The Nanny (ugh I hate this one now) and others.
...the years just pass like trains
I wave but they don't slow down...

that A-Team intro gets me fired up!

If you have a problem . . . if no one else can help . . . and you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

Yeah, that intro was great. I would've killed to have that guys voice, and those simple lines tell you everything you need to know about the show. And then that awesome 80s score kicks in, the credits start with clips of shit blowing up and Jeeps flipping over, and the testosterone gets flowing.

Someone else mentioned Knight Rider, that might have been my #2 show. Is anything cooler to a kid in the 80s than a talking, self-driving car? I still wish they made steering wheels like KITT had.

Charmed was too cheesy for me. Even Buffy the Vampire Slayer in all its cheese, wasn't as cheesy as Charmed.

Speaking of Buffy, that's another show I loved (aside from Season 6) growing up, and it still holds up as well.
