RIP Prince
« on: April 21, 2016, 10:57:31 AM »
Dearly Beloved....

Just got a notification on my phone that Prince passed away today.

Sad year and it keeps getting worse.

WHAT? RIP Prince.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

What I'm seeing so far is that there is a death reported at Prince's house, but they aren't releasing the identity of the deceased.

I saw that too, Hef.  But the most recent as of about 10 minutes ago confirmed that it is him, according to TMZ.

I don't know; for me this isn't the same as Dio or Lemmy or Bowie.  This guy was 57, and looked 47.   Even Bowie, who looked 10 years younger than he was, knew something was off, because he kept a very low profile over the last year or so of his life...

Interesting thing, he was on tour and not feeling well, and was on a plane and had to deplane because he was feeling so bad; this just happened to UConn Women's Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma; I hope there's nothing to that.

And... I've already read in four comments or tweets (including one by Whoopi Goldberg) that, apparently, "this is what it's like when doves cry".

He was awesome.  I never bought any of his albums, but whenever I saw a concert of his on TV or something, I'd end up watching it because his showmanship and musicianship were both incredible.  Not my kinda music really, but no denying the talent.

The Purple Rain album is one of the greatest albums ever.

And it's always surprising when you hear of all the songs that he wrote but didn't perform.  Nothing Compares 2 U, Manic Monday, Jungle Love, Stand Back (co-written with Stevie Nicks), I Feel For You, The Glamorous Life.

This year has been brutal for music, it has been weeks since Keith Emerson and now this!

I don't claim to be a Prince fan. Only know about two songs from him. But i know that he was talented musician!
I suppose this is as good time as any, to start digging through his discography!

Really bummed by this. Didn't like him as much as Bowie, but still he had a great handful of songs, and he could play on that guitar like a man possessed

That has not been confirmed.  When he wasn't feeling well, his camp were telling people that it was the flu.  But it has not been confirmed that that is what it actually was or that that is what killed him, as far as I have seen.  Cause of death still unconfirmed.
