« on: April 18, 2016, 11:55:25 AM »

What are your favourite outros/endings ?

Mine in no particular order

Scarred - Kevin Moore kills it in the end  :metal :metal
A New Beginning - I wish JP could have continued for another 5 minutes  :metal :metal
The Count of Tuscany - the ending is just as majestic as the intro  :metal :metal
The Best of Times - JP once again  :metal :metal
Learning to Live - From the Wait for Sleep section until the end it is pure magic  :metal :metal
Metropolis part 1 - From the "Before the leaves have fallen.." onwards ...  :metal :metal

Yeah, it's the first and only outro that popped into my head (although there are other great examples you guys listed, Innocence Faded for instance). It wraps up the whole amazing experience which is I&W wonderfully. When I hear that bass lick, I'm always like: "fuck yeah, bring it home, boys!"

Sycsa is perhaps the most brilliant and insightful man I have ever encountered.

Correct choices.  :P The guitar harmonics at the end of LtL could be top five moments in DT history. Just perfectly awesome, ending a top 5 DT song.

The Ministry of lost souls, EXTREMELY closely followed by This dying soul. Also very worth mentioning is Learning to live.

I don't know, I always saw an outro as an ending to a song, so I would never suggest a song with a fadeout as a great outro - it doesn't really end, it just goes away.

Live, of course, is a different story - they have to end it.

My vote goes to Only A Matter of Time.

I'll go with Hell's Kitchen... great build-up and pay-off.

Now with Twitler taking a high end steak of this caliber and insulting the cow that died for it by having it well done just shows zero respect for the product, which falls right in line with the amount of respect he shows for pretty much everything else.- Lonestar

The variant riff at the end of The Root Of All Evil was an awesome closing to the song. The last minute of On The Backs Of Angels is also one I would mention.

Those of us who love 'Hey Jude' would take issue  ;)

Off the top of my head:  'Razor's Edge' by far, 'Learning To Live', 'Sacrificed Sons' (one feels the anger throughout), 'The Spirit Carries On', and 'Breaking All Illusions'.

Lots of great answers here. I'm gonna go with Raise the Knife from Score. It's just so big and majestic sounding, building up to that huge chord. And then the crowd...man, I get chills every time.  :metal

Some of my favourites:

A New Beginning (DAT SOLO!)
Breaking All Illusions (The reprise of FFH, with different lyrics)
Octavarium (Again, DAT SOLO, but also the vocals before it. "This story ends where it began" is probably my favourite album-closing lyric ever.)

With this fan made mix, using the intro of 'A Savior In The Square', my current favorite outro on TA is 'Our New World'

BAI (FFH reprise)

IF - the outro is the part of the song I actually skip, so out of place
Hell's Kitchen - oh yes  :hefdaddy
FF -  :metal
TDEN -  :metal :metal
BAI - meh, the outro is probably the weakest part
ANB -  I just skip this song altogether so can't say

Either way ITNOG, Learning to Live and TCOT are the three top outros for me.
