Nah... never did get around to IV or V.  I should probably do that.

IV is the best of them and V isn't far behind so definitely  :tup

@ Jon... always love seeing what six-pack you've got spinning.  Dunno what the bottom right is, and I'm not a thrashy guy, but the other four are top-shelf material.

 :tup

bottom right is The Dear Hunter - Black EP from The Color Spectrum.   Proooooobably not for you.

You'd be surprised.  I very much enjoy the first three Dear Hunter Acts.

I've only heard IV and V. I like 'em

First spin of a new purchase:

Southern Empire: s/t

Approaching the end of the 28-minute epic The Bridge That Binds, and I'm really loving this. This is the sort of prog I like.

Systematic Chaos: Still one of the best DT albums.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

Yes, I think I'm going to like it very much. My favourite song on first listen is How Long?. I love the Latin-flavoured middle section.

Absolutely. Such a masterpiece... :hefdaddy

As for what I'm listening to lately, I'm hooked on GSO's debut album from a couple years ago.

Well it's been a while since I've jammed some stuff in heavy doses, these are some of them.

Bocanada: Damn this is some amazing national stuff, quite electronic but very atmospheric and chill, and catchy. Loving it.
The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld: Some roulette stuff, very nice electronic stuff, chill and kinda experimental. Prob too long tho.
Channel Orange: More roulette stuff, and also from bae's top 100. Very solid production and songwriting, yet I'm not sure if I'm sold into those modern R&B sounds.
The Great Cold Distance: Well, first time with Katatonia. Interesting stuff, even if a bit one-dimensional for a first listen, but I like their style. Will revisit.
Pig Inside the Gentleman: Ohboy, this is some great, uh, cinematic jazz? Definitely feels very contemporary, with a production normally of rock albums, meaning it's loud but with lots of space. Also a little chaotic but definitely more accesible than older, more classic jazz I've tried.
Impressions: Definitely more atmospheric and minimalist than his debut and Walking on a Flashlight Beam. I dig it tho - hyped for his new album in a few months!

First time listening to Figure 8, I kind of like the more lush arrangements and the more frequent use of piano. It also goes a lot heavier at times which is nice but overall I feel it lacks some of the subtility of Either/Or.
