this is just like, going down the list of things i like in music and checking the majority of them.
great, sludgy riffs? ooh yea
some chaotic proggy nonsense that feels controlled and interesting? yeah baby
a nice guitar solo that builds well? mmm
some beautiful moments and violin just 'cause? yuh.
all in a nice, tight 45-minute single-song package.
just throw in some atmospheric electronic moments and it'd be perfect
but yeah that wouldn't fit the style of this at all don't do that

Nice one jj. Often underestimated that one. I love it.

Wasn't expecting much from this but it's nice listen.

Not planning on checking it out since the single was terrible, but is this album any good? Might give it a chance if it is

I quite like Billy Talent, saw them live a few weeks back, but I feel like this is a really average album even for their standards. It's basically the same style and formula they've used on every album up till now, and tbh only like two tracks stood out as memorable to me and really made me pay attention. I play to give it more listens, but it didn't leave a good first impression.

Something new and something old...
Man I wish the second half of SSTB was as good as the first. Would be the best Coheed album by far.

I like both Neverender and God Send Conspiration. The B-side Elf Tower New Mexico is pretty sweet too, but the Hearshot Kid Disaster-Junesong Provision is a really huge drop in quality.

their sound is kind of gimmicky, but i think it works well enough. not sure this is great, but it's interesting enough for me to want to check out
disclaimer: only listened to 20 minutes or so of it tho
also, you will literally never believe why i found this album to begin with, so i'm not going to say why  :corn

actually like 30 minutes on this one bcuz i accidentally listened to the 9 minute track too
i'm not like, huge on this on first listen but it seems interesting? they basically do whatever they feel like apparently, so i could probably go and listen to all of this, but i won't yet

I really love the whole album, it is quite different to their other albums but the first four will always be solid gold in my opinion. I love listening through albums 1-4, or even better, watching the Neverender DVD where they played the first 4 albums over 4 consecutive nights, would LOVE it if they did that again.

i find this pretty boring and flavorless. the 20 minutes here felt really long and monotonous.

i have no clue what it is but symphonic metal in generally always seems to be bland and lacking in any real power, which is weird all things considering, but

it seems like this is
1. heavier (which i like)
2. more showtuney (which i dislike)

so. that's okay.
i may listen to act 1 just in case even if i prob won't be able to get a copy of it.

i feel like doing this because this is one of those weird concepts that intrigues me but also i might hate. so yeah just listening to the one-track-each short version
black: heavy electronic style, this is okay but not a huge fan.
red: this is literally a coheed and cambria song with lower-pitched vocals. feels a bit bland.
orange: hello, stone temple pilots? that's what it sounds like to me at least. except that cool jam at the end. solid.
yellow: ahh, indie rock, my "favorite" genre. fine, but i've heard this song before a hundred times.
green: ahh, indie folk, my other "favorite" genre. fine, but i've heard this song before a hundred times.
blue: this is probably my favorite of all of these so far, even though it's not really anything special
indigo: this is paramawave or something, i rlly like this sound. then it gets more upbeat and i still like it.
violet: this sounds exactly like a TDH song. i guess the band is violet by default.
white: yeah, this is like, radio pop rock. but it's ok?

wow, this is like really disappointing. the band is showing less diversity here than any of the 20 minutes of album i listened to. i mean i listened to one song off each which is "probably not enough" but w/e

I own a copy of Act I. I've never listened to it (or any full TDH album, for that matter).

Damn, I really suck at discovering new music. :lol
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Why not, good listening on a Saturday night.

@Parama, I was pretty underwhelmed by Acts I-III and the Colour Spectrum when I first heard them (all within 6 months before Act IV dropped). Act IV helped me appreciate the band more. I think all their albums are growers and in my experience growers definitely have more staying power.
