Felt familiar enough with Enter! to attempt listening to their new album.

One of the coolest metal albums I've heard so far this year. I'm all over the place nowadays in my musical preferences and I'm not as easily impressed with loud metal music as I used to be, but this is awesome and it's a mix of various genres. Wether it's tastefully assembled is up to anyone, but I'm very much enjoying this stuff. It's a mix of doom metal, Opeth-y death and proggyness and of course the female vocalist who almost sounds like Beyonce at times. I dig it.

I think that might be the first time I know all of the albums in Brent's post

a classic high-quality followup post:

burst: this is fine, and it comes into view is quite great, but the harsh vocals here really hurt this album for me, they're just not very good. this definitely still needs more listens before i have a solid opinion on it tho.
leprous: i don't know how to feel about this album. it feels like the last four tracks, while all fine, just don't really matter. the album kind of runs out of steam. i'm also not really that crazy about any of the other songs. legit think the first 20 seconds of the album are my favorite part. not seeing the brilliance here, but i still like it a  fair bit overall, just not nearly as much as the congregation
nadja: i'm actually surprised, i like this quite a lot. nice crushing heaviness and i actually like the 30 minute drone track too. except for the very end. but yeah, as far as "good background music" goes this is enjoyable. not great active listening though, for how drawn out it is, but
vanden plas: a bit samey overall but i do like this. godmaker and inside are prob my favorites at this point in time but there's a fair number of cool riffs and instrumental moments throughout. not huge on the vocals but they're fine. i really question the decision to have tracks 4 and 5 both be ballad tracks, even if 4 is just a short pre-echo of a later track.

added to the rotation this week:

This is actually my first proper listen to AMOLAD , so it's obscure for me  ;D   As you know I am a pretty casual Maiden fan and up to now all I have had from the reunion era is the double CD best of From Fear To Eternity.  I relented and got AMOLAD after I saw everyone jerking off over it in the Maiden thread  :)

i listened to about 20 minutes of this then listened to glory box.
it all pretty much bored me to tears, except i know i've heard glory box somewhere before, and not just the alessia cara song that samples it

there's just nothing about this genre that appeals to me. nothing that i actively dislike either. it's immensely "meh" in the most boring way.

Well I may send something from their last album or Mezzanine in your roulette anyway, it's like very different and weird and experimental, maybe you'd like it then :P

And this series of posts is where we can see that Zantera / Sacul music and Paramacore, though they may seem to be the same due to the fact that they both come across as utterly alien to the typical listener, are in fact two completely different genres of music.

Really need to give this a listen, they are supporting Ne Obliviscaris in the UK in October so if I like this I may go ahead and get tickets.

This is a beautiful album, and I don't even particularly like trip hop. I went to see Massive Attack with my girlfriend earlier this year as she's a big fan. They put on a good performance with a pretty incredible light show, but I prefer Portishead WAY more.

Totally agree with this!! Love the beginning of the album. Although I probably like the rest a lot more than you though. Can't compare it to The Congregation though as I've still not gotten around to it.

runner-up moment of the album is the guitar solo over the main motif of forced entry tho, that's such a rad moment
