The Big Four should always have included Testament instead of Anthrax in my opinion.

Oh yeah.  :2metal:

I didn't rate this on first listen but its definitely grown on me. i thought it was too poppy at first but its another excellent Myrath album.

Yeah - very good album.   Consistently good but not as many highs for me as Tales........

Still , it's nice to hear a band with a unique sound and that gets them points from me before we even start.

As a child of Blackmore i love that eastern/Arabic sound. I really like the album intro - I'd listen to an album of that!

Been listening to these two albums a lot, I love both waaay more then I expected to

This is awesome, it sounds really fresh, I really like how they go from something quite minimalistic to something heavy to for a few seconds in Way too Long.

Probably the most consistent album in my collection. Not a single weak track on here. Boy the next Haken survivor is gonna be tough.

Seems like they abandoned a bit of the hip-hop and went more jazz. Not complaining tho, these guys have a fantastic chemistry.

My only complaint is that it was released in spring :lol I'm usually not in the mood to listen to Moonsorrow in spring.

I'm slowly getting into more of this album—already loved the epic, but want to try to get into the shorter ones. Alley Cat clicked a while again, and Wiseman clicked just now. I think the unique thing about Seventh Wonder is that Tommy has an unconventional approach to writing vocal melodies. I don't know enough about music to describe it, but it feels like more of a theatrical approach to the melodies than a rock approach (and he definitely has a theatrical style). In Kamelot he seems to write melodies that are closer to conventional rock/metal, but Seventh Wonder you get these big looping melodies that are just a little different (rhythmically different?) from what you expect them to be.

I liked Wiseman from first listen but found the album really exhausting as a whole, maybe I'll check it out at some point tho

I can definitely see it being exhausting as a whole. I'd say maybe take the first six songs on their own and then take the epic on its own at first?

However there's no getting around this being pretty much genre-defined prog metal, aside from the somewhat different approach on vocal melodies. I'd say they're one of the better bands in the genre, but if you're someone who isn't too interested in Dream Theater-style music anymore, I'm not sure it'll do much for you besides maybe liking a couple of the songs.

The Great Escape is damn awesome.

425, what do you think of The Angelmaker and King of Whitewater? They are easily my #2 and #3 on the album, far ahead of any of the other tracks (though the epic is still #1 for sheer scope and... epicness, I guess).

I really dug Alley Cat when it randomly popped up on youtube autoplay but remember not caring too much for the big epic, should check out that album.

Both actually 😉 It's very solid indeed, they remind me a little of Fair to Midland, but way more mainstream
