Never heard of either of those. Are they new?
The Phantom 5 was pretty good. 80% is fair. I'll listen again.

The Siloam is obscure Christian rock/metal - a couple of really good tracks but not a consistent album IMO

The Holland is Batio's first main band - straight ahead mid 80's hard rock with his shred.  Pretty decent actually.

Was a good timing to discover this band, because this new album of theirs is damn good. I know many users here like some atmospheric prog metal (duh), and if you can stomach occasional growly stuff you need to check this out!

Nah... it's just fine.  The growlies are minimal, and done tastefully.

jj would hate it though.  :lol

I think it'll matter a lot what you sampled.   I'm finding it very up and down - the first couple of tracks were very promising and then the songwriting got a bit all over the place.    On a positive note (aside from the concept - I pay little attention as usual :lol ) I think you can tell that they have taken the time to write something that isn't cookie cutter stuff - it's quite ambitious and I can see huge potential but it just hasn't quite come together as well as it might have.

I will listen again as it has "grower" potential and the girl has a bit of Floor Jansen in her voice, which is never a bad thing.  The growls aren't too bad either. Definitely not a bad album by any means.

Wow - Total Stranger?  That's a rare one Hath,

I've been mining the depths of melodic/AOR/hard rock recently.  A couple of pretty decent tracks on that album, but overall pretty average.

I believe I tracked that one down because I liked the singer but found he didn't appear on much that was any good.

If you like the singer , this is another rare one you might want to check out

I've been on a Haken - Affinity binge for about a week now.  Haven't listened to anything else.

It's a brilliant album. Those guys never disappoint.

Yep, gotta love it.   :tup

I'd recommend Pitch Black Progress, it's almost as good as Holographic Universe. Their newer stuff after Christian Alvestam left is good, but not nearly up to the level of their previous quality.

You should, however, definitely check out Solution .45, an awesome melodeath band that Christian Alvestam formed after leaving Scar Symmetry. Their 2010 debut "For Aeons Past" is probably just as good as Holographic Universe, if not better.

Cheers dude, I'll check out Pitch Black Progress soon.

I've actually got For Aeons Past, I must admit I prefer Holographic Universe more but probably haven't listened to For Aeons Past as much. I'm pretty sure I got both albums off a Canadian guy I met whilst travelling in Australia, he was also a huge Devin Townsend fan and I somehow only ended up with the first 3 tracks off Terria when we traded music. That has long since been remedied  :lol

That's an awesome story. :metal

Though I'd actually say that the first three tracks on Terria are probably the weakest on the album. Of course, given that it's my #2 album of all time, that's not saying much, but I think they pale in comparison of the sheer genius of Deep Peace, Nobody's Here and Tiny Tears.

Yea it's weird, I loved Earth Day (and still do) but this was back in 2012 and I didn't end up getting the album until last year. That was the only Devin Townsend he gave me (other than filling in the gaps with a few SYL albums I didn't have). Deep Peace is my favourite off Terria by a long way I'd say, maybe if I'd gotten the first 4 tracks instead I would have gotten into Devin a lot sooner  :lol

I didn't rate this on first listen but its definitely grown on me. i thought it was too poppy at first but its another excellent Myrath album.
