I would say song St. Anger is great if it was few minutes shorter. This way it's one song repeated twice.

I can see why someone would like it. I really kind of think it's meh, but I can't take the view that it's all trash, either. There are good ideas in there. First four tracks are actually pretty good, though they could use some editing. Personally, I think instead of all but disowning it, they should try to rehabilitate some of the songs. I think they could break out the title track or Some Kind of Monster in an abbreviated form live, see if they work. If people hate it, it's just 5 minutes out of a 2 hour show.

On Shoot Me Again, this is another one that's solid but I think meanders a bit much.

It honestly feels like a majority of the songs on this album are songs mediocre songs hampered by bad production that have good songs inside of them, that could be brought out. I think there's a pretty good 11-track, 55-minute album inside this 11-track, 75-minute album.
And if spirit's a sign,
Then it's only a matter of time

The production and length of songs certainly hurts it.  I guess I wrote it off when it came out but redicovered it years later when I wasn't that into Metallica anymore and I had no expectations from it.  I think that's why I like it.  I was very disappointed when it came out though.

Essentially the same with me. Didn't give St Anger a proper listen on release. When Death Magnetic came out, I found it so bland, I went back to St Anger and realised I liked a good chunk of what they did on that album. I like the flawed roughness of it. I like how long they dwell on ideas, so long as I like the idea. At least they were trying to do something interesting.

But then I liked Lulu, so what would I know?

St. Anger is pretty bad but I'll take it over Death Magnetic to be honest. Some Kind of Monster is definitely the best song on it, but most of them go on for way too long.

Yeah I ain't participating in the St. Anger survivor :lol, it's my least favorite Metallica album by a huge margin. For me everything just blurs together into one big lump of metal snare drums and weird vocal melodies. There's only three songs I actually know quite well, one of those I really like (Sweet Amber) and the other two I think are just awful (St. Anger and Frantic).
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

The title-track is actually good, but it goed on for too long. I like the unique sound compared to basically all their other records.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

Interesting sound, and some decent songs too.

this one's a lot more electronic and darker than the other two, or it feels like that on first listen.
i dig it a lot tho. neath waters is this really weird industrial symphonic piece and if the instruments were real it'd probably be mindblowing but it's still great as-is too so

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells III
My favourite instrumental album of all time (although one song has lead vocals)

My gf and I are delving deep into the Bristol sound and the trip-hop scene in general. I chose this one this week, and I'm quite enjoying it. Definitely not Portishead copycats.
