Eclectic mix of Evergrey-esque atmospheres, occasional thrashy melodeath bits and even some later Gojira influence. The best thing about this would probably be the atmospheric gothic style vocals, though some of them are a bit too low in the mix. Really liking this nevertheless.

Caravan Palace - <I°_°I>

Yes, that's the actual title. It's a good album so far (through 2/11 songs). Almost impossible to not bob your head to. Some good electro swing here.

yet another Luoto album with a sound that sounds interesting and an appealing album cover with a circular design

Moving on to something completely different: Periphery - Juggernaut: Alpha. Also liking it so far, it's definitely...different from the electro swing album I just listened to.

dreadnought - probably ranks between their first two albums for me. i kind of wish these guys would try writing more compact songs instead of these long meandering pieces that fade in and out of being interesting. though i will say the last track is one of their better long tracks & the opener is solid too. it doesn't really feel like they're doing much new here either, just adding a bit of heaviness to the bridging realms sound but not otherwise changing much? i think the vocals have more presence here than their previous albums too. i enjoy it but it's hard to get really into it.
enslaved - ooh yeah this is good stuff. dunno if i like it quite as much as riitiir but it's close. hiindsiight is song of the year, and storm son and sacred horse are pretty great too, really the only track that's a bit meh is track 5, just feels... off. but no yeah this didn't disappoint, not gonna be my aoty but i'll def be revisiting it plenty, moreso than the other enslaved album i got earlier this year tbh. i need to check out in times for sure
ne obliviscaris - this is fine enough but honestly it feels like a NeO album on autopilot. they're not pushing any boundaries, they're not doing anything fresh, they're just doing what they did on citadel, but.... not any different. not as good either but there's just a base level of enjoyment you're gonna get from a NeO album and it's definitely pleasant enough to listen to. intra venus is probably the best track though lol

Yes!

It's probably the album that I've wanted to return most to, out of all the Enslaved albums I've heard. It may be helped by the fact that they played Storm Son and Sacred Horse when I saw them support Opeth recently, really digging both of those tunes. I'd say I prefer it over In Times but IT is certainly worth a listen! Will possibly break my top 10 albums this year.

For me, giving this a listen now it's out:

It's ok so far, can't say I'm the biggest DSO fan but I like some of what I hear.

this is so dumb, but strangely fascinating. the vocals pretty consistently suck/feel unnecessary though and it's not like there's anything remotely resembling a hook
but yeah like 80 minutes of avant garde wank metal i dunno. it has its moments. i might relisten but probably not something i'd get much more enjoyment out of

(cleric - retrocausal since the album cover doesn't have it)

Earth, Wind, & Fire - I Am

This is pretty consistently decent. I'm not completely blown away, but the songs are all very pleasant to listen to. Some darn nice grooves and melodies in here.

Also, I absolutely approve of the DSO, NeO, and Mahler. And the DT, obviously.

Man, I don't even know what kind of music this is and I want to listen to it just because of the album artwork. That is some amazing art right there.

As Sacul says, it's Yetzer Hara by Flux Conduct. Djenty riffage with kinda weird popish vocals.

It’s half pretty good 😀

JJ played Vapor Trails the other day and didn’t catch shit for it. I’d take a Bat III over that 😀
