They are a British rock band made up of "seasoned professionals " . A nice chilled listen. Quite 70s sounding, ELO, Chicago, that sort of thing, with a bit more of the rock.

So you have some huge hits with clean cut pop rock, you have a huge tour, head back to the studio to record the follow up and make... a concept album.

imo they released nothing worth listening to between After the Rain and Lightning Strikes Twice (both of which I love)
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

I like Imaginator, Because They Can has some good songs but is more laid back - Geffen shit a brick when they presented the label with Imaginator 😀 and sent them back to record something softer.

Lightning Strikes Twice is a great album. One of the best rock albums of this century.

The song I heard from that Serious Black was nothing special.  This band haven't done anything for me since the first album.

Another solid album ;D   - the story of 2017 so far   And probably a good thing I don't tend to notice lyrics much as I get the feeling that if I dig deeper it'll redefine "cheesy".

It also has a bonus live album.

Magic certainly isn't as good as the debut, but I'd rate it slightly higher than Mirrorworld.  And that bonus live album was their PPUSA performance last year - which I was front row on the rail for.   :metal  Fire it up on Spotify Kade.... good stuff.  Fairly low production value, but still worth a listen.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

That High Spirits is ok. Wasn't expecting anything but enjoyed it.

The Waysted is classic.

I've only heard the first album. Was ok.

I'm only just discovering the full album recently. I remember hearing Joker & The Thief on the radio when it came out & I knew Woman from guitar hero, but it's cool to hear how much more the album has to offer than just those tracks. Dimension is especially awesome :metal

It's just a great, great album which brings back many memories of a great time in my life! Cosmic Egg was such a disappointment for me though. You're right about Dimension being  :metal

I think Cosmic Egg definitely had some great tracks, it just doesn't feel as raw or aggressive as the debut (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). It still doesn't match up to the debut, but it's only a slight bit off for me. 10,000 feet & Violence of the Sun are heavy as hell.
That said, apparently New Crown is pretty bad, so I don't know how I'm going to react to that one.

Btw, if you haven't heard the debut in a while, there's a 10th anniversary edition up on Spotify with a lot of the demos. The early demo for Woman is pretty funny in retrospect.  :lol

the Thrice? Yeah, they're not gonna win any awards in the classic rock/metal thread because of their hardcore, alt-rock sound, but I find it to be pretty enjoyable.

I doubt I've even gone two weeks without listening to this since it was released! Love it and nothing comes close to knocking it from my AotY top spot.

Still not got around to playing the Accept yet.

That Avantasia and the other released at the same time, are the ones I'm less familiar with. Neither really grabbed me but one was better than the other. Can't remember which was which though... 😀

I'm not big on multi-vocals as you know - thought the Avantasia was "solid"  ;D

Thankfully the Accept is better than I expected from the advance track - that Koolaid rubbish is the worst track.

I'd bet my bank account that The Wicked Symphony (ie, NOT the one pictured above) was the one you liked better.  Angel of Babylon (pictured above) is generally considered by most to be the least best Avantasia album.  Wicked Symphony has Klaus Meine, Ripper, Kiske, Matos, and Lande.  AoB is pretty Lande heavy.

Yeah, Wicked Symphony is much better than Angel.  AOB has a few real duds which is very unusual for Tobi.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces
