yeah it is a really underwhelming album lol. tracks 2 thru 4 are all garbage but the title track, potomac, and the last track are all pretty good

Yea, to be fair I didn't have time to listen to the full album. I haven't heard the title track or last track yet. Pretty account of tracks 2-4 though  :rollin

Steven Wilson - To. The. Bone.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

it's a very backloaded album. everything from the summer drones onward is at least pretty decent but there's like a solid 25 minutes of boring sludge doom whatever pointlessness you have to sit through first, it's really disappointing especially with a cover that good

The originally intended running order makes it a much better album.

Yups it's quite good. Dunno if AS GOOD as the hype says it is, but will definitely give it more listens.

The originally intended running order makes it a much better album.

I listened to that album recently for the first time, and I'm not convinced any change in order would make it listenable. :lol (I don't know if they released it with the "intended" order somewhere, but I listened to whatever version was on Spotify)

i've been listening to a ton of crap lately but mostly been trying to figure out the ruins of beverast and foscor albums released this year.
exuvia is like. the kind of album i think i would love but it's so hard to tell. it's a lot slower for a black metal album but has a lot going for it too it just hasn't really clicked in the listens i gave
the foscor album there's like. a few songs i really enjoy and the rest is nice but not that memorable & i'm thinking i'll pic kit up anyways

also i gave like three tracks off the junius album a listen again and either i got super lucky and picked the best tracks or it's better than my previous listens lead me to believe

i'm also really pissed about how badly blue swan has handled the distribution of the new eidola lol, i can only get it as part of a bundle with a poster i don't want :/
but i want it a lot... i gave a few tracks a relisten this evening and they were all pretty great/exactly the kind of stuff i'm looking for right now so i might, even if i shouldn't

It's catch up time, sorry for the mega comment

+ Manchester Orchestra - A Black Mile to the Surface, but there were no big enough pictures on google

Inconsolobilis: Bastards, they've done it again. Really great EP. If anything, the second track is a bit one-sided and unlike Red Oak Tree it's not memorable enough to justify being one-sided. These Walls Won't Tremble Anymore is just amazing though, that's one of their best songs yet.
Science Fiction: First half is OK but a bit restrained by Brand New standards, but from Out of Mana up until the end it's all great. Only listened to this once on release day though but it's promising.
Wildlife: Really digging the raw emotion on this, their audiotree session is great as well. The ending of King Park is definitely one of the most intense climaxes I've ever heard in music.
Shores of the Abstract Line: Never have had such a hard time picking my favourite album of a band. This one and Acid Mist Tomorrow are about equally as good, the standout tracks are mostly on that album but this one has some more to offer and is slightly more consistent as well.
Polaris: Sure it's not as good as One, but it's still really damn good except for a few songs (looking at you Phoenix).
To The Bone: Good album. I'm a bit sad that 4 of the 5 singles all come after each other on the album but they're all good songs so it's not that bad. People Who Eat Darkness is really cool, I think the only track I don't really like is Detonation, it's way too long for what it has to offer unlike most of SW's/PT's longer songs I've heard.
One: I'll be really surprised if TesseracT ever top One, but Smile is a great single so part of me is confident that it can happen.
in•ter a•li•a: It doesn't really stand the test of time I guess. It is a good album for sure but nothing special, probably not even top 20 of the year material anymore with all the great stuff released so far this year and to be released within the last few months.
A Black Mile to the Surface: Can't say I've given Manchester Orchestra enough listens overall to judge all their albums, but from the time I have given them, this is definitely their best album. Sounds like a lot of fans of The Dear Hunter's indie side would really like this album as well. The Grocery and to a lesser extant The Mistake are already some of my standout songs of the year.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

yeah i'll pretty much agree on the hacride, the second track is the obvious weak one
i think it's a good EP but not on the same level as Lazarus & none of the songs hit me as hard

so they released digital downloads to people who preordered and you better believe i jumped right on that

and it's pretty great. even heavier on the cinematic style this time and my one hangup is that it seems the songs aren't as cohesive as a result but it flows as an album well (the buildup from the second-to-last track to the closer gave me chills, especially) & it's got a ton of great music

sometimes i just want a prog wank album
and this one's actually pretty solid, i particularly like tracks 4 & 5 but it's at least fairly diverse
though the one instrumental track is a bit dull
it's free on their bandcamp anyways so hey why not, i might actually pay for it anyways though

Cramx, if you've never heard The Flatliners you really need to listen to this album. Easily one of the best punk bands out there at the moment. I think you'd love this as much as me.
