It's a weird one but not too bad - like a weird combination of Queensryche, Styx and Rush (probably not what you'd expect from the cover).    I've heard a lot worse but not something I'd be rushing out to get either.

Hacride - Lazarus: Okay this is the best Hacride album no doubt.
Ulver - The Assassination of Julius Caesar: Prooobably AOTY so far, amazing album. I checked out Blood Inside as well and that one's awesome too (specially "It Is Not Sound", that might be my favourite Ulver song so far). I want more vocal-centered Ulver stuff like this.
Pain of Salvation - In the Passing Light of Day: Starts out really strong, On A Tuesday is easily the best song on the album. They kind of lose me near the end, especially the closer is kind of a letdown, it could've been a pretty sweet 5-minute song though.
Astronoid - Air: The second happiest blast beasts I have heard in my life. Man this album is just a lot of fun to listen to.
He Is Legend - few: Pretty much like all of their albums I heard so far. A few good songs here and there but mostly not that interesting. Still gonna see them on sunday though because it's free. For some reason it really bothers me that they didn't capitalize the "f" in the album title. Just WHYYY would you do that?!?
Poly-Math - Melencolia: After talking to them after the show found out that they're actually big Mars Volta fans and it kinda shows, but it's mostly post-rock with a slgiht prog edge. Really good stuff.

Yeah what the fuck. The title track on the new PoS is the best song they've done, easily.

Is it good? I've heard their last albums have been rather mediocre.

I had intended to only listen to my favorite song from the album "Book of Thel" but ended up listening to the full thing. Love this album.

Do you read Sutter Cane?

+ - is their only good album cover imho. Visuals is still my third favourite of their covers despite not liking it too much. It's still miles better than And The Glass Handed Kites :lol

Now:

Thanks. It gets a lot of criticism but I think it's a solid release of great space prog. I think its biggest Achilles' Heel is that it is going up against albums in their discography like Dark Side and Wish You Were Here.

What do you think of the Ayreon?

It's my favourite PF album actually, I just love the unique psychedelic sound and Syd's fairytale like lyrics. And yeah it's definitily up against some amazing albums, which might nog help especially if people expect the sound of those albums on the Piper.

What do you think of the Ayreon?
I like it, it's not as mindblowing as THE but it still sounds like a very solid Ayreon album at first listen.
