Metallica - Hardwired to yada yada
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

That's actually one of the better retro rock albums I have heard in a while Tim.    I'm not a big fan of 70's music as a rule but they did a really good job of rehashing it in a way that appeals to me.

Brent, I am just finishing it now. That album is incredible.
Reminds me of old Lucifer's Friend/old Thin Lizzy/ The Sweet.

At 37 minutes it's damn near perfect. I have literally never heard of them until I saw them referenced on Bravewords tonight.

A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon the Dead Lord album, which is kind of in this vain. Loved that one as well.

Definitely an underrated album.  The mix is massive!

@ Jon... always love seeing what six-pack you've got spinning.  Dunno what the bottom right is, and I'm not a thrashy guy, but the other four are top-shelf material.

That Death Angel is very good. And I'm no big Thrash guy either.

I actually never got around to listening to the EP that Autograph released in 2016 - might have been #1

You'd be surprised.  I very much enjoy the first three Dear Hunter Acts.

whoops i never did this

the flight of sleipnir - nothing on this album really grabs me that strongly, but at the same time everything is pretty good (especially the last two tracks) and it's an enjoyable listen. maybe a bit of a patient one though.
indukti - yeah, this is a bit better than s.u.s.a.r., for the first half of the album they have a bit more of an edge and primal sound to them and i think it works out really well. the back half loses me a little, it's still good but not as good. even the final track with its gratuitous sax, is just missing something, i dunno. it makes sense that and who's the god now? is the best song on either of their albums though since they put it on both their eps lol
mare cognitum - i dunno. the third track is great, but the rest leaves me a bit cold. solid stuff but doesn't really stand out in any way. i feel i'm lacking a decent grasp on the 15 minute closer still but i get the gist of the other three songs for sure, so. it's not bad, far from it, but i was hoping for a bit more of an effect

side note all three of these covers rule

tried IV or V at all?  I will say I find much of the Color Spectrum to be quite different than the Acts.  But don't let me discourage you - there is a lot of cool stuff in the color EPs.
