Haven't heard about this. I checked out a short clip on Youtube and it sounded like it was going more for the jazzy Toto sound rather than more straight up melodic rock (I'm too used to the Frontiers stuff these days :lol ). Any good?

Better than I expected Blob , but I wasn't expecting much :lol   Had a feeling that Bobby had fallen off the wagon again and he is almost 70yo so realistically he could be expected to struggle a bit.   Having said that he does sound great on this and it is a good record that doesn't sound like everything else.   He has gathered a good group of musicians together and the lead guitar has a very distinct Lukather vibe.   There's probably a ballad too many but the more uptempo songs do have that groove/jazziness of early Toto or Doobie Brothers (touches of Chicago at times too - plenty of brass in there).

It's a style that I need to be in the mood for these days but it's a nice listen to break things up .  I would rate it low-mid 80's.

Brian, I've been tempted to buy that Storming Detroit cd a few times.  Fantastic setlist, but I'm assuming its not official in any way or endorsed by the band, right?  Is it a good sound at least?

it's... alright. for as much as it tries to do it doesn't really feel like it stands out much but there were an okay amount of cool moments. may revisit it, may not

Gong - Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy:
Flying Teapot
Angels Egg
You

I really enjoy these 3 albums, Angels Egg is my favourite. Steve Hillage, Tim Blake, Didier Malhebre, David Allen and Gili Smythe. This is Gong at their zenith for me.

Used this as the starting point for another YouTube roulette- wasn't very impressed with it and several other albums that came up.
The better ones were

Surgin - when darkness comes

Stefanie - Pink Noise

Alleycat Smile - s/t

Spiced Ice - s/t

I've been spinning individual songs from The Similitude of a Dream lately. Album is way too long, but there are some hidden gems there.

i've tried to check this out before but didn't ever get far into it

with my current tastes though this is quite up my alley and seems pretty dang good tbh, may have to see if i can find a copy (this one is also expensive-ish but not as bad as the indukti one at least)

Not sure if I like this as much as Act IV.  Doesn't seem to have the same catchy vocal lines that Act IV had. It's gonna need a few more listens before I can truly pass my judgement on this though.

I've been meaning to check this band out. What's a good place to start?

I'd check out Act IV and Act III. Those are the best two in my opinion. I haven't listened to any of the non-act albums but I hear they are worth it aswell.

You could say that. I'm new to them and it's not my usual cup of tea, but I enjoyed it as a change of pace. I've not been well recently and have been struggling with heavy stuff at times.

I did something similar when I first tried them. There is some good stuff in the album that makes more sense as an album rather than as single tracks. They are no primal fear though

I would just like to point out that that's actually a song by the band Deerhunter, which is quite different than The Dear Hunter.
