Do you only listen to the OST's or have you checked out things like The Black Mages, Distant Worlds, Overclocked Remixes etc?

I've heard them, I just don't tend to love those sorts of things. I always prefer the genuine article. So to answer your question, I stick to the OST's.

I kind of get what you mean but the orchestral versions and Black Mages versions are closer to Nobuo's original vision. This is more true with games I-VI as he was more limited by the technology then. By VII of course he was able to make more cinematic sounding OST's. But if you like the earlier games then Distant Worlds and The Black Mages give a more cinematic feel. I have a shit ton of Final Fantasy music. More than I need to be honest but the music is so good.

Typically, I'm not a fan of electronic music with the wob, wobs, and stuff like that. Somehow, I find this album very tastefully done and, thankfully, it highlights the violin as the dominant instrument. There's like 8 songs with vocals from a wide range of vocalists from adult contemporary singers, from country guys, from the singer of Weezer, from a hip-hop musician and others.

I like it.

I haven't listened to their whole discography yet, but I'd say The Ape of Naples and Horse Rotorvator are good albums to start with. The first if you want something dramatic and sad, the latter if you want something more abrasive.

you don't seem convinced. There is an element of early Queensryche/Crimson Glory in their sound.

They only had the one release, which can be found on YT if you care to sample.
