As mentioned in the first thread, pick your five favorite songs from this year. Two will advance to the 80s finals.

The ultimate goal: to see what DTF's favorite number 1 song of the 1980s is.

Here we have the choices for 1986.  A shit ton of songs to choose from again.

YOU CAN VOTE FOR FIVE SONGS.

I doubt it has a prayer of being one of the top two for this year, but Holding Back the Years is one of the best number 1s of the entire decade.

Kiss - Prince and the Revolution
West End Girls - Pet Shop Boys
Venus - Bananarama
Take My Breath Away - Berlin
Human - The Human League

Another great year.  These are "pop" songs, so they wasn't exactly buying them.  But most made it into my collection eventually.  Most of what I liked was all the new synth sounds being used in new ways.  I thought about going Sledgehammer, but that song is one of my least favorite Gabriel songs, so it gets a penalty.

Meanwhile, Venus is covered in cheese, but the synth stuff going on underneath is stuff I really, really love.

Struggling for 5 but...........

Bon Jovi
Mr Mister
Robert Palmer
Peter Cetera
Heart

I was 2nd year high school and just starting to get heavier tastes.  On constant rotation from that year were:

5150
Slippery When Wet
The Final Countdown
The Ultimate Sin
Trilogy (Yngwie)

Dang it I hate that Kyrie is going to lose out if you are only taking the top 2. You Give Love A Bad Name is typical formulaic Bon Jovi.

The year I had 2 girls in one day wearing a 3/4 sleeve concert shirt. So 80's.

Man, this is tough.

Sledgehammer
Glory of Love
Take My Breath Away
Amanda
The Way It Is

I had another 5 or 6 I could have picked as well.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Advancing to the next round:

You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel
Invisible Touch - Genesis

Note: a 3rd song was added from this year because there were 30+ entries.
