Leprous Survivor: Main Thread
« on: March 27, 2016, 08:04:55 AM »
Hi! I would like to run a Leprous Survivor in the next days. I'll start from Tall Poppy Syndrome going in chronological order.
Rules: Two songs for each of the four albums (Tall Poppy Syndrome, Bilateral, Coal, The Congregation) are automatically classified for the finals, the 3th and the 4th of each album goes to Consolations and 2 out of those 8 songs passes into finals. I thought that a bigger consolation round would be a good idea because there is more possibility to confront songs of different albums, and also because the single album survivors remains interesting until the second-to last round. So we will have a final with 10 songs.
I want to adopt the DT League format for the final only, instead of having another survivor for the last 10 songs. So every round there will be 5 matches and the song which will win more matches will be crowned champion.
For the finals: 3 points for every match won, 1 for every tie, 0 points for every match lost. In case of final tie at the end of 9th round the difference of votes will be count

I will include the bonus track Pixel in the Congregation survivor and Bury in the Coal survivor, excluding the remix of Foe.

Both survivor rounds and final league rounds will last 1 day.

I think I know the albums good enough to participate in this, aside from Aeolia.

Leprous is a band I've been meaning to check out for some time. Too bad you're starting with the latest albums though, I wanted to start with those and maybe I could have participated for them down the line.  :lol

Definitely in for all albums. I actually considered running something like this, bit I'm doing my top 50 albums first

Please do the albums in order though, starting with TPS.

If Jakepriest doesn't know The Congregation I will start from TPS. Maybe it was Parama or me7 that, if I remember well from the Leprous thread, didn't know the first albums.
So ok Elite.

I'll have to dust TPS off again, as well as listen to Aeolia, but I'm definitely down for this.

So, does your body feel younger or your mind older? Or something else entirely?

(yes, let's keep this pointless discussion going. I'm not even on your lawn, if anywhere, I'm behind a desk that's not mine)

I can rank the albums as a whole (1. Tall Poppy Syndrome; 2. The Congregation; 3. Bilateral; 4. Coal), but ranking the songs individually would be too tough for me I'm afraid :( Passing and White are my 2 favourite tracks though I think.

This morning I listened a lot of songs by Leprous and I totally don't know how I can decide between most of them. I think I will have not more than 5 easy choices among all the four album survivors and during the Consolations and Finals it will be even tougher :P

I think we can make a record for number of disappointed people in a survivor, there are so many possible favourite  songs in their discography

Updated the rules of the survivor in the first post. 1 day rounds and the Aeolia round will be run in parallel to the Congregation survivor. If there are enough people that partecipate in it I might think to add only the best song from Aeolia into Consolations

I made a tentative of complete ranking in the final round discussion. The survivor is over, at first post there are the complete final results! Thanks to everyone who participate!

Acquired Taste is the first Leprous song I liked, I remember listening it for the first time on youtube at random. Without having heard it maybe I won't listen to them today. Forced Entry didn't impress me the first time, it took more listen to me to appreciate it.
I think it's third or fourth best on the album, but I really like nearly all the Leprous ballads (Mb. Indifferentia is my second favourite of Bilateral)
