There's one dodgy effects shot of a pirate ship out on the ocean, but that's about it.

I really didn't like Avatar very much. I found the 'wow' factor of the impressive 3D wore off pretty quickly. The story wasn't great - it kept reminding me of Dances With Wolves for some reason..

We've been over it before but I agree. Avatar was a movie that really left my mind right away. It wasn't bad, but I had no interest in seeing it again and I haven't.

Reservoir Dogs is one of Tarantino's weakest movies by far  :corn

Nah, Kill Bill is. Both parts. They're okay but they lack a lot of the amazing dialogue that other Tarantino movies sometimes seem to be built on.

I've never seen The Goonies.
It's too late now.  The appeal is for kids.  Don't bother.

I liked it when I was a kid, but it's hard for me to watch now.

I dunno if this is controversial because I can't imagine anyone enjoying it...

..but the Angelina Jolie movie film " Wanted ".

What a crock of shit.

It's a movie about making bullets curve. .............I was going to make this a joke, but I think that description did the job.

Don't forget the loom of doom. Magic healing wax. Defying gravity. Killing 10 people in a row with one bullet.

It's like a 12 year old wrote it.

I guess dialogue isn't really what attracts me the most about his movies, so I loved Kill Bill :P

I like Death Proof a lot actually but I think Pulp Fiction is quite overrated. It's good but I still prefer Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds, Django, and The Hateful Eight.

There are a few movies from my childhood that I still legitimately enjoy. I may not have liked them if I saw them for the first time as an adult, but watching them isn't a chore or anything like that now.

Watched Ghostbusters for the first time over the weekend. While somewhat entertaining, I have no idea why that movie is considers as big of a classic as it is.

I think there's a lot of movies like that, that would just look silly when viewed for the first time today, through modern day movie glasses.

I had a 'discussion' with a guy in his late 30s that watched the Goonies for the first time recently and said it was total rubbish. What?? You can't just insult a classic like that unchallenged..  :lol

I've seen The Goonies a gazillion times, so maybe I'm just tired of it, but I never want to watch it again, and looking back, it really wasn't THAT great. A nice little adventure movie, with memorable moments, but certainly not OMG CLASSIC MASTERPIECE. Plus, I think The Monster Squad is better, and even though I've also seen it a gazillion times, and am overall tired of it, I could still watch it again. The creature effects still look great.

I've never seen The Goonies.

Shocker.

I can still watch The Goonies. It's an enjoyable movie. It's along the lines of Stand By me as far as the bonding of friends facing an ordeal. They're both adventure movies and the humor is pretty much the same because of the young characters. If you say you haven't seen Stand By Me, then watch that instead.

I would never compare The Goonies to Stand By MeThe Goonies is much sillier.  Stand By Me is a serious film.

It's more serious in ways, absolutely. But that same kid humor is there. The whole time on the way to the body is filled with jokes and whatnot (along with the more serious moments). It's not identical but there are parallels between the two.

While the children's undertone is similar one is on the comedic side and the other is one serious movie.  I like both but of course Stand By Me is a really good movie.

BTW, Most have said that Goonies is a kids movie and it's not the same when watching it as a kid, it's not a full blown kids movie and I can still relate to it.  It's just a fun movie.

Trailers that don't match the film.

Like - Character A will say a line and then there'll be a reaction shot from from Character B elsewhere in the film.

That was glaring in the second Batman vs. Superman trailer.

Also in the trailer for Prometheus - Shaw says " we're here because of an invitation " and the Ginger guy says " from who ? " and it shows Shaw and Charlie look at each other and it fades out.

That never happens in the film.

Batman Begins is easily the best of the Christopher Nolan Batman films.

I agree. I always thought The Dark Knight had too many acts and too many characters and I don't know what's going on most of the time.

The main problem I feel is that it was rushed in too many areas. They didn't take any time to tell a "real" story like they did with the first one.

Dare Devil with Ben Affleck is my favorite superhero movie.
Well, that explains a lot.

I don't blame Ben Affleck for making that movie suck. The story/movie just wasn't that GOOD...

I think you all are a little loopy.

I also don't think 3 years between movies is rushed. It's not like they didn't have pre production going on before and durring the 1st movie.

I didn't mean that the TIMING  of the movie or it's release was rushed. I meant the "flow" of the movie itself. Like they were trying too hard to make it an "action flick" and just hit us with too much all at once, instead of maybe giving a better explanation for a lot of what happens when it happens. Kind of a case of "too much plot getting in the way of the story. In my opinion, this did not happen in Batman Begins.

The first one wasn't THAT bad. But I pretty much agree with you about the second one, and the ones with Val Kilmer and George Clooney.

I like Tarantino but I think the massive praise he gets is perhaps a tad too much. He has a few really good films (and a bunch of good ones), but so does a lot of other directors who doesn't get the same love. While I have enjoyed his last few, ever since Kill Bill it feels like he's making the same movie over and over again, just with different settings.

Never seen a Woody Allen film. Tarantino doesn't know how to edit. Most of his films could end much sooner.

EDIT

Hehe. Speaking of Tarantino - I'm watching Team America and the scene with the Kill Bill music just came on. :tup

Tarantino is awesome.

Yet only has two Oscar nominations for Best Director (and no wins yet).  If anything, he is underrated and doesn't get nearly enough credit for how great he is.
